Iago, Othello, Desdemona and Cassio are the main characters of "Othello". Iago is a sub-officer who fights alongside Othello but does not forgive him when, instead of promoting him, Othello chooses to promote Lieutenant Cassio. On August 14th, 1967, twenty years after Pakistan became an independent country, Islamabad became the capital of the country. Shortly after independence, the capital was Karachi, an important city but without conditions to house the capital. A commission decided to build a city to be the capital. The chosen area is close to Rawalpindi, in the northern part of the country. The master plan was designed by the Greek architect Konstantinos Doxiades and the construction took place in the 1960s and early 1970s. Islamabad means "the city of Islam". In 2021, Islamabad is the only national capital city whose name starts with the letter "I".

3. Three of these "I" cities are located in Nigeria. Which one is part of another African country?

Answer: Ifrane

Ilorin, Ibadan and Ikeja are cities in Nigeria, Africa. Ifrane, which in the Tamazight language means "caves", is the name of a city and a province, in the Fès-Meknès region, northern Morocco.

Ifrane is located at 1,665m above sea level in the Middle Atlas. Although the region has been inhabited since the 16th century, the current city was established in 1928 by the French administration, at the time of the French protectorate. It was built as the "hill station", a resort town located in the mountains, allowing Europeans to avoid hot summers in tropical colonies.
4. Which of these "I" cities is located in the Southern Hemisphere"?

Answer: Iquitos

Iquitos is the capital city of Peru's Maynas Province, bordered by the Amazon River and the impenetrable rainforest. It is located on the left bank of the Amazon River, and also bathed by the Nanay and Itaya rivers in the Great Plains of the Amazon Basin, east of the Andes. It is the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon and the largest city in the world that cannot be accessed by road; it is accessible only by river and air.

5. In which of these "I" films is it possible to see the American actress Louise Beavers in one of her most famous roles?

Answer: "Imitation of Life" 1934

"Imitation of Life" is an American drama film based on Fannie Hurst's 1933 book with the same name. The book and the movie deal with problems of race, gender and class. The movie, released in 1934, was directed by John M. Stahl, starring Claudette Colbert, Warren William and Louise Beavers, as Delilah Johnson, a housemaid. This was the first film in which a black character's problems were relevant to the plot.

Louise Beavers (1900-1962), is an American film and television actress who was successful in the 1920-1960 period. When starting her career the only roles assigned to black people were maid, servant or slave. Many critics think that Louise Beavers' best performance was in the film "Imitation of Life" and that she should have been nominated for an Oscar.

Idriss Déby Itno was born in Fada, Chad, at the time still a French colony (independence occurred in 1960). After getting his bachelor's degree in science, he went to Officers' School in N'Djamena and later to France to be trained as a professional pilot.

In 1991, Idriss Déby assumed the presidency of Chad. In 2021, he was re-elected president for the sixth time, under an atmosphere of great discontentment about his permanence in the presidency. On April 30, 2021, Idriss was leading his army against the rebels of "The Front for Change and Concord Chad" when he died from gunshot injuries. He spent 31 years in power.
8. Which of these "I" writers was born in Cuba?

Answer: Italo Calvino

Ismail Kadare was born in Albania, Ian M. Banks was born in Scotland, Isabel Allende was born in Peru and Italo Calvino was born in Cuba.

Calvino's parents were Italian and were living in Cuba to conduct agricultural research when Italo Calvino was born. When he was two years old the family returned to Italy. Due to his parents' profession and activities, Italo Calvino pursued studies in the field of Agronomy, later changing to Arts studies.

Italo Calvino had an extensive career as a journalist and writer. He wrote in Italian and several of his works were translated into other languages and many were made into films. His first novel "The Path to the Nest of Spiders" was a bestseller. My favorite book is "Il visconte dimezzato" ("The Cloven Viscount"), in which a viscount, while at war, was split in half and became two people, one good and one bad. The book makes it clear that for everything to flow well, people cannot be only good or only bad.
