Answer: yes

Austrian troops were composed of for the most part German-speaking men from the Empire. Hungarian troops were composed of the most different nationalities. These included a large number of Slovaks who had mixed loyalties.

5. What was the color of the Austro-Hungarian soldiers uniform early in the war?

Answer: pike grey

Pike grey, better known as 'hechtgrau', was the standard color of the Austro-Hungarian uniform. This color was introduced in 1908 when the Empire was convinced the next conflict would be in the Balkans. Later in the war, a field grey was issued that was called 'feldgrün'.
6. The Austro-Hungarian army was composed of many different nationalities and minorities. The 28th Infantry regiment was comprised mostly of Czechs. While engaged on the Eastern Front, members of this regiment did what?

Answer: defected to the Russians

For reasons that are unclear, several hundred men of the 28th defected to the Russians. The High Command's answer to this situation was to disband the regiment for cowardice.

Answer: false

Although for the most part the average infantryman may have been illiterate, nothing anywhere suggests that life in the army was unnecessarily brutal. Serving in a European army was harsh and had few rewards, but his officers were not sadistic. Penalties in the Russian army were much more severe.
10. The German General Staff that had to work with the Austro-Hungarian staff officers while on the Eastern Front, generally had this opinion of them and their troops.

Answer: a low opinion

The senior German officers and their staffs had an extremely low opinion of the Austro-Hungarian army and their officers and the circumstances at times really did not matter. After seeing them beaten by the same Russian forces that they seemed to beat without any problems, and having to serve as a fire brigade because the Austrian units on their flank have fled, they soon lost confidence in them as allies.
