Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To enter Zirnakaynin, you'll need to undergo 'recorporeal incarnation'. Does this process cause you to die?

Answer: No

With the Armageddon Echo dealt with, the elves of Crying Leaf and beyond realize that the need to infiltrate Zirnakaynin is a must, but to do that, the heroes of the campaign need to do something a bit unorthodox. Zirnakaynin, being populated by drow, is not a region that takes in surface races, so the only method of reaching the area involves posing as drow, and to do that, the heroes must undergo recorporeal incarnation, a process in which a necromancer uses dead drow bodies to create magical disguises, effectively overlaying them on someone's appearance.

When this process is complete, it works for just over three months (in this case), and those affected gain all of the racial traits of a drow.
2. The city of Zirnakaynin is accessed using an elf gate, but it requires which of these to be activated and attuned?

Answer: Shadow Key

The Shadow Key is an item that would have been collected from Nolveniss' body at the end of the campaign's previous chapter, 'The Armageddon Echo', and if it's in someone's possession it will automatically attune an elf gate to a destination near enough to Zirnakaynin. And that's where the adventure into the endless dark begins-- with the heroes posing as the enemy and being forced through to the other side. Sure enough, when this happens, the drow are waiting at the gate. With enough sweet talking, it shouldn't take long to navigate the tunnels of the Darklands all the way back, likely in the company of one of the local noble house servants.
3. The infiltration of Zirnakaynin ultimately places its unwelcome visitors into which noble drow house?

Answer: House Vonnarc

This infiltration, should the disguised visitors reach the city of Zirnakaynin, will ultimately reach the chambers of House Vonnarc where they will be able to work under the iron grip of Slavemother Undamesta. Getting into the house shouldn't be too hard-- visitors can follow Gadak all the way from the elf gate to the Slavemaster's chambers. If they can answer enough questions to satisfy her, they can take beds in the Servants' Quarters. Really, all that means is not lashing out when asked a few normal interview questions.
4. Working under Slavemaster Undamesta, anyone taking on a job during their stay in Zirnakaynin will receive which role?

Answer: Servitor

As servitors, anyone working in House Vonnarc under Slavemaster Undamesta will be forced to complete daily tasks based on their general success as guards, warriors, attendants, cleaners, clerks, and handspeople, and those tasks and duties will be determined by their roles and their successes will be determined by their skill checks. Good rolls mean that servitors will advance through the ranks and gain more experience while poor rolls will, likely, result in severe punishment. With enough time and effort, successful servitors might be handed more high-profile tasks, and that's the aim.
5. The guards of Zirnakaynin, including Safan Domvesia, ride which of these?

Answer: Lizards

By the time the disguised servitors reach noble status they'll likely be given tasked by lesser nobles who notice their capabilities. One such instance will involve the Second Son of House Vonnarc and a series of riding lizards (cave geckos, in this case) that have significant skill points in Climb. What follows should, basically, amount to an escort quest in which the servitors defend Safan Domvesia, a lowborn lizard merchant, on Undamesta's request.

Unfortunately, if they succeed, then it'll likely be held against them until later in the chapter at the worst possible point.
6. Which of these Zirnakaynin destinations, shaped like a crystal, is home to several high-level magic users?

Answer: Tower Solacas

When the secretive servitors reach the rank of 'revered', the upper nobility of House Vonnarc will have a hard time taking their attention off the disguised newbies, and it will likely lead to an invitation to Tower Solacas on the grounds. The tower, with five floors, is heavily warded and contains an extraplanar refuge only accessible from the top.

It's also the headquarters from some of the most powerful members of the drow noble house. Besides a cadre of mages, the tower's chambers are also highly trapped.

It would pay not to get into trouble there.
7. Which of these names refers to an Archmage who uses the heroes for higher-profile tasks?

Answer: Alicavniss

Visiting Alicavniss is a big deal as it's her mission that proves to be one of the most important of the trip. This said, the Vonnarc Archmage isn't naive. Before she passes any errands on to the servitors, she'll take them into her refuge in the top of Tower Solanas and start asking them questions, putting them into situations designed to catch them out and reveal their potential true natures. Fortunately, if a crutch is needed, recorporeal incarnation grants a massive bonus to Disguise checks (+20). All of this questioning might lead Alicavniss to take notice of the servitors' actual cause and help gain a bit of insight into what House Azrinae's gameplan is.
8. What two-floor tavern in the Pale Market of Zirnakaynin is operated by Orvignato?

Answer: Venom Kiss

Alicavniss knows that the Azrinaes are up to something big in The Land of Black Blood, but knowing the extent of that is just out of her reach. Regardless of what the surface-dwellers are, she'll use them to execute a local political maneuver, sending them to the brothel known as Venom Kiss to wipe out a local criminal mastermind, Orvignato.

The real goal here is to obtain his maps, some of which hint at another elf gate below Golarion's surface, and anyone can do that as long as they break through the mercenaries he keeps there.
9. Which of these will ultimately undo Recorporeal Incarnation?

Answer: A wish

Completing the Venom Kiss mission will give Alicavniss all she needs to proceed with her own plans in Zirnakaynin, and when the servitors return to Solacas Tower, they can hand the maps over and she can hand over her side of the deal-- information regarding House Azrinae's nefarious plans to cause a second Earthfall by wiping out the Elven capital of Kyonin.

The maps will note an Elf Gate approximately two days away from Zirnakaynin that connects directly to Kyonin, but with the task complete, she'll force them away in the worst way she can-- by using the wish spell to remove their recorporeal incarnation and take the risk of their dying in a swift escape. Pawns, after all, can be replaced.
10. The final battle during the escape from Zirnakaynin, set near the Elf Gate, is against a drow by the name of Tiryin. Which of these is not one of his multiple classes?

Answer: Vigilante

Escaping Zirnakaynin is no easy feat, especially when the starting point of that escape is the top of Tower Solacas. Using the maps in Alicavniss' Refuge as direction, the heroes can get out of Solacas, leave House Vonnarc, stealthily make it out of Zirnakaynin, and start fighting through the caverns outside the city to, eventually, get to the Elf Gate, but they will certainly be pursued. Upon reaching the cavern with the Elf Gate, Tiryin Vonnarc, the second son of House Vonnarc, will arrive with his guards and a Retriever to battle over a centipede-infested fissure.

The escapees can either activate the Elf Gate mid-battle (if they can!) or take the chance and fight to give themselves more time handling the magical device.
