Roger was stabbed. This is perhaps one of Poirot's most famous cases - discounting 'Murder on the Orient Express' and 'Death on the Nile'.
2. B is for William Henry Blore. He appeared in 'And Then There Were None'. Ten people are invited to stay on a lonely island. Whereabouts in England was the island?

Answer: Devon

Blore died from a blow to the head. One by one, the guests are systematically murdered, in different ways. 'And Then There Were None' is known by other names. It is a very famous Christie novel with no main detective.
3. C is for Harry Carter. Harry appeared in 'Murder is Easy'. Where did Luke Fitzwilliam first meet Miss Lavinia Pinkerton?

Answer: On a train

'Murder is Easy', is also known as 'Easy to Kill'. Miss Pinkerton is also known as Miss Fullerton, in some books. Harry was drowned before the book began. He was not well liked, although he was the local innkeeper.
4. D is for Linnet Doyle. Linnet Ridgeway, as she was before her marriage, was due to marry somebody else, before falling madly in love with Simon Doyle. Who was he?

Answer: Charles Windlesham

This is another famous Poirot case, 'Death on the Nile'. Poirot is on holiday, but murder is not far away. Linnet is one of three victims, she was shot.
5. E is for Lord Edgeware. He appeared in 'Lord Edgeware Dies'. Whereabouts was he found dead?

Answer: Study

This is also known as 'Thirteen at Dinner' and is a Poirot novel. Lord Edgeware was stabbed. He was married to Jane Wilkinson, but he refused to give her a divorce, so she could marry the Duke of Merton.
6. F is for Rex Fortescue. Rex was one of the victims in 'A Pocket Full of Rye'. What was his job?

Answer: Banker

"Sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie

Wasn't that a dainty dish to set before a King?"
This mystery novel was based on the famous nursery rhyme. Rex died from taxine poisoning. Rex, of course, means "King". Miss Marple investigates when one of her former maids dies.
7. G is for Michael (or Mickey) Gorman, who appeared in 'At Bertram's Hotel'. What nationality was he?

Answer: Irish

Mickey was shot. This is a Miss Marple novel. She comes to stay at Bertram's Hotel, where she stayed as a child. She is concerned, as the hotel doesn't seem to have changed since she was last there. But there are things going on in the background.
8. H is for Verity Hunt. She appears in 'Nemesis'. She disappeared, just before she was supposed to marry her boyfriend, Michael Rafiel. What does the name Verity mean?

Answer: Truth

Miss Marple reads that Jason Rafiel, the millionaire - who she met in 'A Caribbean Mystery' - has died. But before he died, he set her a little problem - to clear the name of his son, who is in jail for murdering his girlfriend.

Answer: Strychnine poisoning

Emily is unique, as she became Agatha Christie's very first murder victim. It was also Hercule Poirot's first published case.

The pills, for high blood pressure, were placed in the dead man's room so that his death would appear to be as a result of this, when in fact he was poisoned. Victoria was stabbed. Miss Jane Marple is holidaying in the Caribbean. Another guest tells her that he will show her a picture of a murderer. But before he does so, he dies.
11. K is for Ruby Keene. Ruby appears in 'The Body in the Library'. Who was Ruby's cousin?

Answer: Josephine Turner

Miss Marple investigates when the body of a beautiful girl is found in her friend's library, at Gossington Hall. Another body is also found in a burnt out car.
12. L is for Cora Lansquenet. Cora appears in 'After the Funeral'. What was the name of Richard Abernethie's home?

Answer: Enderby Hall

'After the Funeral' is also known as 'Funerals are Fatal'. It was also made into a film 'Murder at the Gallop', featuring Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple. However, the original novel features Hercule Poirot. Cora was killed with a hatchet. Miss Gilchrist was sent wedding cake laced with arsenic and almost died.
13. M is for Amy Murgatroyd. She featured in 'A Murder is Announced'. She lived with her friend, Miss Hinchcliffe. What was the village called?

Answer: Chipping Cleghorn

In the local newspaper, there is an advertisement that there will be at murder at Little Paddocks, the home of Miss Letitia Blacklock, at 6.30 pm. Friends are welcome to attend. Miss Marple investigates the case.
14. N is for Mrs Nicoletis. She appeared in 'Hickory Dickory Dock'. Miss Lemon (Hercule Poirot's secretary) has a sister. Where did Mrs Hubbard use to live?

Answer: Singapore

'Hickory Dickory Dock' is also known as 'Hickory Dickory Death'. Mrs Nicoletis died of morphine poisoning. Poirot's secretary, the efficient Miss Lemon, seems distracted from her work. She explains that strange things have been going on at a student hostel, where her sister works.
15. O is for Prince Michael Obolovitch, who appeared in 'The Secret of Chimneys'. What was the name of George Lomax's secretary?

Answer: Bill Eversleigh

Prince Michael was shot. This was Superintendent Battle's first published case. Anthony Cade helps him.

Vanda was shot through the head. This is a Tommy and Tuppence Beresford mystery. They eventually adopt the victim's child. Betty Sprot becomes Betty Beresford.

This is probably one of Hercule Poirot's most well known novels. The Orient Express is stranded in a snowdrift. And there is a murder on board.
18. S is for Sir Bartholomew Strange, who appeared in 'Three Act Tragedy'. How did he die?

Answer: Nicotine poisoning

'Three Act Tragedy' is also known as 'Murder in Three Acts'. The actor, Charles Cartwright, hosts a dinner party, where a mild-mannered Reverend is murdered. There are three deaths in the Poirot novel.
19. T is for Lady Camilla Tressilian, who appeared in 'Towards Zero'. What was the name of her home?

Answer: Gull Point

This is also known as 'Come and be Killed' and is another Superintendent Battle mystery. A husband brings his second wife to stay with his guardian's wife, but unfortunately, his first wife is also there. The husband gets along well with his first wife, but his second wife is jealous of her. Lady Tressilian was battered to death, in her bed.
20. U is for Laura Upward who appears in 'Mrs McGinty's Dead'. What was her previous profession?

Answer: Actress

This is also known as 'Blood Will Tell'. Laura was strangled. This is a Poirot novel. An old charwoman has been murdered and her lodger has been arrested. But neither Poirot nor Superintendent Spence is convinced that he did it.
21. V is for Marguerite Vandemeyer, who appeared in 'The Secret Adversary'. What was the name of the boat, what sank, which left Jane Finn with no memory?

Answer: The Lusitania

Marguerite (or Rita) died after consuming a dose of chloral. This was Tommy and Tuppence Beresford's first novel. They are going to get married at the end of the book.

This is another unique book, as Agatha Christie killed off one of her most popular characters. X is also killed...but by whom?

There are a lot of murders in this book, set in ancient Egypt. He is killed when he is impaled on an arrow.

Ella died when prussic acid was put in her atomiser. There is a grand fête at Gossington Hall, which is now owned by Marina Gregg, the famous actress, and her husband. But murder isn't far away.
