Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Al-Ybi is in which part of Discworld?

Answer: Klatch

Al-Ybi is a little known city in the Klatchian desert. It is, supposedly, where a criminal says he was at the time of a crime. The Seriph was once cursed by a deity with dyslexia. As a result everything he touched turned to Glod. What Glod, a dwarf, thought of this is not recorded.
2. What caliber are the bookworms that live in the magical libraries?

Answer: .303

The .303 bookworm is the fastest animal on Discworld. It evolved its speed to avoid being affected by the magical books that it eats through. An adult bookworm is so fast that it can ricochet off walls.
3. The Cavern Club is a place where the 'artists' of Ankh-Morpork gather to swap ideas and compare scars and bruises.

Answer: False

The Cavern Club is the premier breed club for Swamp Dragons. Do not confuse it with the Cavern in Quarry Lane. You may find yourself being beaten over the head with a very large club by an even larger troll.
4. What was the name of the fishing fly created by Death in "Mort"?

Answer: Death's Glory

In "Mort" Death takes some time off in search of fun. He had heard that fishing was fun. Some people, like my wife, think fishing is the same as being dead, except you are still alive to experience it.
5. In "Guards Guards" what was the name given to the little Swamp Dragon by Nobby because it reminded him of his brother?

Answer: Errol

Errol's pedigree name was Goodboy Bindle Featherstone of Quirm. Which just goes to show that dragons have to put up with the same ridiculous names as pedigree dogs. Errol was dismissed as a whittle, or runt, but was in fact, a new sub-species of swamp dragon.

He had a streamlined body, short wings and a very hot flame. The only problem, was that Errol's flame came out of the wrong end of his body. Eric is the amateur demonologist who brings Rincewind back from the Dungeon Dimensions. Erasmus was the Great Uncle of Mrs Cake. Ernie drove the fastest milkcart in the west.
6. The Fresh Start Club was started by Reg Shoe as a meeting place for people who have trouble being un-dead. Where did they hold their meetings?

Answer: 668 Elm Street

The club meets above a tailor's shop in Elm Street. Among its mottoes were 'Dead Yes! Gone No' and 'The Silent Majority want Dead Rights'. Reg died and became a zombie during the events chronicled in "Night Watch". Quotes taken from The Discworld Companion.
7. What is the surname of the witch encountered by Granny Weatherwax and Esk in Ohulan Utash as they journey to Unseen University?

Answer: Goatfounder

Hilta Goatfounder sells thunderdrops and pennywishes from a small stall in the market. She also has some 'back of the stall' preparations, without which there could be a population explosion in the area.
8. In "Feet Of Clay" Carrot finds a dead body in the Dwarf Bread Museum. Whose body was it?

Answer: Hopkinson

Hopkinson was the curator of the museum. He was beaten to death with a loaf of dwarf bread. Humtulip was the author of 'Howe to Kille Insects'. Humptemper wrote 'Names of the Ants'. The two are often confused, even though they lived several centuries apart. Hugglestones was the boarding school attended by a young William De Worde.
9. What was the full name of the wizard who spawned the sourcerer Coin?

Answer: Ipslore the Red

Ipslore was the eighth son of an eighth son. He had eight sons. The first seven were at least as powerful as the most powerful wizard on Discworld. His eighth became something that Discworld didn't really need, a sourcerer.
10. At the beginning of "Jingo" Solid Jackson and his son Les are fishing for Curious Squid. They come across another fisherman out in the water. What was the name of this other fisherman?

Answer: Greasy Arif

Greasy Arif tried to claim the rising city for the Seriph of Al-Khali. Solid tried to claim it for Ankh-Morpork. This was the start of hostilities.
