Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How old is Echizen Ryoma?

Answer: 12

Ryoma is twelve years old, although he was mistaken for an elementary school student by Sasabe and his buddies in the first episode due his short stature.
2. Seigaku has never had a first-year Regular before Ryoma.

Answer: True

Ryoma is the newest Regular on the Seigaku team, but what makes him special is that he's the only first-year to ever make Regulars in all of Seigaku history. It's thanks to this that the place where they get their jerseys was confused/surprised when there was a size "small" ordered.
3. What are the names of the Freshmen Trio?

Answer: Horio, Katsuo, and Kachiro

The Freshmen Trio are part of the cheerleading squad of Seigaku. Horio is most known for being "all bark and not enough bite", for he always brags that he has "two-years' worth of tennis experience", but when he actually gets on the court and plays, he isn't quite as good as he claims he is.

Daisuke, Iori, and Ken are from Digimon Adventure 02, Riku, Sora, and Roxas are from the Kingdom Hearts series, and Kirihara, Kamio, and Zaizen are second-years.
4. Fuji Syuusuke and Yagyuu Hiroshi have perpetually-closed eyes.

Answer: False

Only Fuji Syuusuke and Yanagi Renji have been seen with perpetually-closed eyes. Renji only opens his eyes once or twice in the series, while Fuji opens his eyes whenever he is excited or provoked.
5. Which of these schools has no vice-captain?

Answer: Hyoutei Gakuen

Hyoutei Gakuen, one of Seigaku's biggest rivals, is the only school in 'Prince of Tennis' without a vice-captain. Hyoutei also has the biggest cheerleading squad, with a tennis club of 200+ members. Its captain is Atobe Keigo, the self-proclaimed King of Hyoutei.

The other schools all have vice-captains, though Shitenhouji's vice-captain isn't shown very much.
6. Where is Eiji's band-aid?

Answer: right cheek

Eiji, the youngest child of five, always wears a band-aid (or plaster) on his right cheek. He also acts like a cat and adds "-nya" to the end of his sentences, which is the sound a cat would make. Back in his first year, he wore his band-aid on his nose.
7. The Kisarazu twins, Ryou and Atsushi, attend the same school.

Answer: False

The Kisarazu twins used to go the same school, Rokkaku, but after Mizuki from St. Rudolph mistook Atsushi for Ryou when he wanted to recruit Ryou for St. Rudolph, he made Atsushi cut his hair and wear a headband to know which twin is which.
8. Which player never made it to the Kanto Tournament due to illness?

Answer: Yukimura Seiichi

Yukimura is the captain of Rikkaidai, but didn't make it to Kanto Tournament due to falling ill before it. He later goes through the surgery to cure his illness (despite the mere 50% success rate of said surgery) and rehabilitates himself in time for the Nationals, which allows him to rejoin the rest of the Rikkaidai team.
9. Shishido Ryou has always had short hair.

Answer: False

Shishido Ryou is one of my favorite characters. He's a Counter Puncher and one half of the Silver Pair with his doubles partner, Ootori Choutarou. Once upon a time, Regular member Shishido had long brown hair tied up in a ponytail. Then, defeated by Fudomine's captain, Tachibana, he gets kicked off the team and is replaced by another member of Hyoutei called Haginosuke Taki.

Shortly before the Kanto Tournament, Shishido defeats Taki (who's replaced by Hiyoshi), but doesn't get back on the Regulars until he cuts off his hair when begging his coach to be let on the team again, along with intervention by Atobe. Shishido's favorite phrase is "gekidasa da ze", which means "that's lame".
10. Besides Ryoma, which three other first-year Regulars have been seen in the series?

Answer: Tooyama Kintaro, Aoi Kentaro, and Liliadent Krauser

Ryoma might be the only first-year Regular at Seigaku, but he's certainly not the only one in the series. Tooyama Kintaro of Shitenhouji, about Ryoma's size, is the genius first-year of the West. Aoi Kentaro is the captain of Rokkaku Junior High, selected for the role by his coach, Ojii. Last, but not least, Liladent Krauser, a foreign exchange student at Nagoya Seitoku, was the only one of his school to be invited into the U-17 Camp in the second series.
11. At the U-17 Camp, which of the schools was tested by two high school members of the camp to see if they "were worthy" of participating?

Answer: Seigaku

Shortly after getting to the U-17 Camp, Seigaku is seen (without Ryoma) to be tested with a can game by these two high school members of the camp, to see if they can knock three cans down from a certain distance. If they couldn't do it, they "didn't deserve to come." And, unluckily for the two high schoolers, all of the Seigaku team knock down their cans.

Although Hyoutei, Shitenhouji, and Rikkaidai were seen getting to the camp grounds, they weren't seen being approached by any of the high schoolers.
12. Which third ability did Kirihara Akaya gain during the U-17 camp?

Answer: Angel Mode

"Angel Mode," similar to "Devil Mode," is Kirihara's newest ability, which he gains during the U-17 camp. Unlike the latter, it doesn't make him go crazy.

"Devil Mode" is an ability Kirihara gained during the semi-finals round of the National Tournament. "God Mode" is made-up.
13. Which of the following is an "evolved" form of "Koori no Sekai" (World of Ice)?

Answer: Atobe Kingdom

"Atobe Kingdom" is an improved version of "Koori no Sekai," which Atobe achieves at the U-17 camp. Whereas the latter can only see a person's external blind spots (which can be hidden with moves such as "Tezuka Zone"), the earlier allows the user to see into the person's bones, exposing blind spots that can't be hidden, known as "absolute blind spots". The other three are made-up.
14. Which of the following is Fuji's childhood friend?

Answer: Saeki Koujirou

Saeki Koujirou, from Rokkaku, is Fuji's childhood friend from when the Seigaku genius lived in Chiba, and one of the few who knows of Fuji's troubled relationship with his brother, Yuuta.

Itsuki Marehiko is Saeki's doubles partner, while Yanagi Renji is Inui's childhood friend and Mizuki Hajime claims he is "Fuji's rival."
15. Out of the attendees of the U-17 Camp, who got at least one of the 250 balls dropped out of the helicopter above the grounds?

Answer: the junior high schoolers

Funny thing is that none of the high schoolers claimed any of the 250 balls, as the junior highers claimed all of them themselves first, leaving none for the high schoolers to claim. This led to some challenge tennis matches in which high schoolers tried to win balls from junior highers. Ryoma grabbed the 250th ball upon his entrance.

Afterwards, Choutarou gave a ball each to two of the high schoolers out of kindness, which Shishido scolded him for.
16. Who sucks at both kanji and geography?

Answer: Tooyama Kintaro

Kintaro may be cute, but he sucks horribly at both geography and kanji. He always calls Ryoma "Koshimae," which is the other (and wrong) way of reading the kanji that form Ryoma's name. He also believes that Mt. Fuji is in Tokyo and got off at the wrong stop from the train when he was heading towards the National Tournament grounds to join the rest of the Shitenhouji team.
17. Who likes "any type" of girl?

Answer: Sengoku Kyosumi

Sengoku considers "any" type of girl as being potential girlfriend material due to his "unluckiness" of finding a girlfriend, despite being nicknamed "Lucky Sengoku."
18. Is Mukahi Gakuto's dominant hand his left hand?

Answer: Yes

Short and sassy Gakuto is one half of the Dirty Pair of Hyoutei and one of the left-handed players of the series. He's a Serve and Volley player like Eiji, his biggest rival, but his biggest weakness is his lack of stamina, despite his being better at acrobatic tennis than Eiji.

It's also interesting to note that about a quarter of the entire cast is left-handed.
19. Who taught Fuji Yuuta the move called "Twist Spin Shot"?

Answer: Mizuki Hajime

Mizuki taught Yuuta "Twist Spin Shot" to "help" the younger boy in his quest to win against his brother, Syuusuke. The downside to using the move is that overuse of "Twist Spin Shot" can damage Yuuta's shoulder. Not that St. Rudolph's manager cares about such a thing.
20. What color is the bubblegum Marui Bunta is usually seen chewing?

Answer: green

Marui is a total sweet tooth, and he has no foods he dislikes. Due to having stamina problems despite wearing wrist weights, he would finish off a whole cake before each of his matches and chew bubblegum throughout them. This is obvious when he blows bubbles while playing.
21. Which three people can use "Higuma Otoshi?"

Answer: Fuji, Atobe, and Yuushi

Although Higuma Otoshi is known as one of Fuji's "Triple Counters", he's certainly not the only one who can use it. Interesting, huh?
22. Who is Tachibana Kippei's old friend from Kansai?

Answer: Chitose Senri

Back before he moved to Tokyo to attend Fudomine, good friends Tachibana and Chitose were known as the "Two Wings of Kyuushuu," attending Shishigaku Junior High together. Then, one day, Tachibana accidentally injured his friend's eye, and as a form of repentance, he cut his blond hair short and dyed it black, which then led to he and his family leaving for Tokyo. Tachibana doesn't dye his hair back to blond until much later on, after a reunion with Chitose.

Hitouji Yuuji and Konjiki Koharu are Shitenhouji's "Baka Couple," while Kite Eishirou is the captain of Higa.
23. Which two players can copy other people's moves?

Answer: Niou and Kabaji

Although only Niou is nicknamed "The Trickster," both he and Kabaji can copy the moves of other players. It's interesting to note that they room together in the U-17 camp dorm (with Niou calling the room "Niou Kingdom," a play on "Atobe Kingdom").
24. Who do Kamio and Momo both have a crush on?

Answer: Tachibana An

Tachibana An is Tachibana Kippei's little sister and Momo has a habit of calling her "Tachibana's little sister," which annoys her. Although she seems to know that both Kamio and Momo crush on her, she likes to tease them for her own amusement.
25. Who showed up in a movie and an OAV before appearing in the regular series?

Answer: Echizen Ryoga

Echizen Ryoga is Ryoma's adopted older brother, suggested to be in high school. Before becoming a U-17 Camp Representative, he showed up in the movie called "The Two Samurai-The First Game," working under a twisted guy called Sakurafubuki Hikomaro, then in one of the OVA's, training by himself in New York. Ryoga loves oranges, and is typically seen either holding one or eating one, even with the peel on.
