Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which movie was released in 2000 and had the tagline "May the best moves win."?

Answer: Bring It On

"Bring It On" was a movie about a championship high school cheerleading squad who discovered that its previous captain, Big Red, who was played by Lindsay Sloane, had stolen all of their best routines from another school. They had to create a new routine to compete in the championships.

This movie starred Kirsten Dunst, who played Torrance Shipman, who was the new captain, and Eliza Dushku, who played Missy Pantone, who was a new student at the school. Missy only tried out for the cheerleading squad because the school did not have a gymnastics team. Members of the school that Big Red took the routines from were from the pop group Blaque. This tagline applies to "Bring It On" since it was a movie based a high school cheerleading competition, in which the best moves do win.
2. Which movie had the characters Jeff Spicoli, Stacy Hamilton, Brad Hamilton, Mark "The Rat" Ratner and Mr. Hand?

Answer: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

"Fast Times at Ridgemont High" was based on the real-life adventures of the author of the movie, Cameron Crowe. It chronicled the lives of high school students in Southern California. The cast included Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold and Phoebe Cates. It was released in 1982 and was a great comedy, in my opinion.
3. Which 1980 movie starred John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and Carrie Fisher?

Answer: Blues Brothers

Jake, who was just released from Joliet Prison, and his brother Elwood, try to get their old band back together to save the Catholic home, where they were raised. Jake was played by the late great John Belushi and Elwood was played by Dan Aykroyd.
4. Eugene Martone displayed extraordinary talent in classic guitar, but he dreamt of being a famous Blues guitarist. He asks the legendary Blues musician Willie Brown to help him, but Willie wants him to learn the Blues from its origin; the Mississippi Delta. This was the main plot for the 1986 movie "Crossroads".

Answer: True

"Crossroads" starred Ralph Macchio as Eugene Martone and Joe Seneca as Willie Brown. The music for the movie was provided by Steve Vai and Ry Cooder. Steve Vai and Ry Cooder have been in the music business for over 20 years. Steve once played with Frank Zappa and was a music transcriber for music magazines in the 1980s.

The climax of the movie was when Eugene went head-to-head with the Jack Butler. The winner was freed from the curse of the devil (Eugene wanted to free Willie Brown because he had sold his soul to the devil earlier in his life), both guitar sets were performed by Steve Vai. Both sets of music were beautiful for a classic rock enthusiast, and to see Steve Vai defeat himself in the duo was remarkable since he was playing two different styles of music. If you love classic rock, you have to see the movie just to hear the guitar work that it has in it.
5. Which movie had the tag line "Love means never having to say you're sorry."?

Answer: Love Story

"Love Story" starred Ryan O'Neal as Oliver Barrett IV and Ali MacGraw as Jennifer Cavalleri. They were two college students that met and fell in love. Oliver was from a rich family and Jennifer was middle class. They got married even though Oliver's father threatend to disown him if they wed.

This was a classic tear jerker and a must see for anybody. The movie tag line was first said by Ali MacGraw when she was upset with Ryan O'Neal and he said he was sorry. It was later said by Ryan O'Neal near the end of the movie.

It was showing that if you love some one, you never have to tell them that you are sorry.
6. Which 1980 comedy starred Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight and Bill Murray?

Answer: Caddyshack

"Caddyshack" starred Chevy Chase as Ty Webb, Rodney Dangerfield as Al Czervik, Ted Knight as Judge Elihu Smails and Bill Murray as Carl Spackler. This great comedy was about a millionaire who wants to turn a golf course into a new property development. The president of the golf course does not like the idea. All of the members of the clubhouse are wealthy and eccentric. This is a great comedy if you want to see one.
7. "The new police recruits. Call them slobs. Call them jerks. Call them gross. - Just don't call them when you're in trouble." was a tagline for which "Police Academy" movie.

Answer: Police Academy

"Police Academy" starred Steve Guttenberg, Kim Cattrall, and Bubba Smith. It was about incompetent misfits that enter the police academy. They were good-hearted folks, but not the kind of people you would want protecting you.
This movie tag line was one of the best in its time, and told the people how useless the recruits were at the academy.
8. Halley Martin is a high school student who is disillusioned with love after seeing the many dysfunctional relationships around her. This was a plot for which movie?

Answer: How to Deal

"How to Deal" starred Mandy Moore as Halley Martin. It was released in 2003 and had the tag lines "Rule #1 - There are no rules." and "A lesson in love for non believers."
9. Tripper Harrison, Morty, Roxanne, Crockett and Spaz were all characters in what 1979 movie?

Answer: Meatballs

Tripper Harrison was played by Bill Murray, Harvey Atkin played Morty (but they all called him Mickey), Kate Lynch was Roxanne, Russ Banham portrayed Crockett and Spaz was played by Jack Blum. "Meatballs" was a movie about a summer camp that was wackier then any camp you could ever think of.

The counselors had no morals, so how could the kids at the camp learn anything? Yet somehow they did.
10. Which movie starred Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges, Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack and Peter Graves?

Answer: Airplane!

Robert Hays played Ted Striker; Julie Hagerty was Elaine Dickinson; Lloyd Bridges played Steven McCrosky; Dr. Rumack was played by Leslie Nielsen; Robert Stack was Capt. Rex Kramer and Capt. Clarence Oveur was played by Peter Graves.
"Airplane!" was a spoof of the airport disaster movies. The crew of an airplane was taken by a virus, or possibly food poisoning. The airplane had to be flown and landed by an ex-war pilot who had become uncomfortable about flying.
