I thought this 2006 romcom/sheepzom movie deserved a place in Quizzyland. This is NOT the Chris Farley film.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Perhaps you caught the line in the film mentioning the "southern hemisphere", but in which particular country, quite renowned for its sheep population, does the movie take place?

Answer: New Zealand

New Zealand is known for having a huge sheep population, particularly on the South Island. It is estimated that there are 20 sheep for every human on this island. The movie makes excellent use of this, evidenced by its tagline, "There are 40 million sheep in New Zealand and they're pissed off!"
2. Henry returns to the family farm in this movie, for a reason which is not immediately disclosed, and he is dreadfully afraid of the sheep. What can we assume caused this phobia, based on the information given in the movie?

Answer: His brother played a prank on him, as a child, with a sheep carcass.

The movie shows Henry's older brother murdering his pet sheep one day, when they were both 15 years younger, and scaring him in the dark light of a barn by wearing a bloody animal carcass on his head as the sheep hung in front of him. Moments later, the boys were told their father had been in an accident on the farm and had died.

It is also revealed, later in the story, that their mother died while giving birth to Henry. It seems the aforementioned cruel prank by his brother, brought on Henry's extreme fear of sheep, or Ovinophobia, as his therapist calls it.
3. Experience, the young woman secretly investigating the goings-on of the farm, tells her "hippie" partner their four established rules to doing their work. What was rule number three, which detailed the steps to take after "collect[ing] visual evidence"?

Answer: Get out unobserved

Her partner, Grant, breaks this rule by running out into the open and stealing a piece of physical evidence from the lab technicians, after which he is obviously detected and, subsequently, chased through the woods. The exact rules, in order, were to "get in unobserved", "collect visual evidence", "get out unobserved", and finally "have a meeting" to discuss further action.
4. How are the lab technicians disposing of the byproducts of their work on the farm?

Answer: Dumping it into a deep pit in the ground

A scientist would nonchalantly walk over to the deep pit in the middle of the field, enclosed by fencing, and dump the material into the hole. Henry and Experience later fall into the hole and are covered in blood and gore.
5. Which part of Tucker's body quickly mutates after he is bitten by a sheep?

Answer: His foot

After a sheep bites through his boot in the truck, his foot mutates quickly into a sheep foot. Much to Henry's ghastly surprise, Tucker comments that he would get a shot for it when they got back. Henry says a sheep had done that to him, to which Tucker then replies that he should see a vet instead.
6. What does Henry's malicious brother, Angus, name the new breed of sheep he has genetically engineered?

Answer: Oldfield

The new breed of sheep takes the family surname, Oldfield. Henry overhears this as he watches Angus practicing his speech in preparation for revealing the new breed to a group of people.
7. After the "hippie", Grant, is attacked by the mutated sheep embryo in the woods, which animal does he pick up, pet, and subsequently take a bite out of?

Answer: Rabbit

The animal-loving Grant picks up a rabbit and strokes it, unaware that he is quickly mutating into a were-sheep from being bitten. As he starts to transform, however, (presumably on a biological level, as this is not noticeable from his appearance) he takes a bite out of the rabbit's face!
8. Henry finds his brother, Angus, in his study in the house with his special sheep. By what reason does Angus contend that the sheep is family to them?

Answer: Angus used his DNA to genetically modify it.

Angus tells Henry that the sheep will not attack them because they are family. He then reveals that he used his own DNA ("ours", he says, while looking at Henry) to genetically modify the sheep.
9. Which character tries to regain self-composure and calm others several times by telling him/herself and others to imagine themselves as a tree?

Answer: Experience

It starts as she is trying to lead Henry outside past a flock of sheep, which is made difficult by his intense sheep phobia. Later this becomes somewhat of a reocurrence in the movie, mostly to make fun of the technique, evidenced by the following quote (in cleaner terms), Experience: "You're a tree." Henry: "I'm not a tree. I'm a flippin' sheep!"
10. While trying to crawl across the sheep-covered field, disguised in a white woolly blanket, Henry's cover is blown when he loses his disguise. Do the sheep then attack when they see him?

Answer: No

Because Henry has recently sustained a bite on his arm, he is becoming a were-sheep; and so even though his cover is blown, the sheep do not attack him. It is noticed throughout the movie that those who are infected and sheepified could smell others who are, as well, and do not attack them. Upon noticing this, Henry mumbles to himself "I AM a sheep."
11. Who is driving the truck that falls off a cliff, after those riding in the back of it jump off (relatively) safely?

Answer: A sheep

An evil sheep is in the passenger seat of the truck when Tucker initially gets in to drive. After a struggle and a bite, sustained by Tucker in the foot, he manages to climb out to the back of the truck where Henry, Experience, and a dog are riding. As the truck is heading quickly towards a cliff, the three of them (and the dog) jump off, and the sheep is seen in the driver's seat as the vehicle falls and crashes.

The cliff is also the site of the accident that had killed Henry's father fifteen years earlier.
12. What does Henry throw at were-sheep Grant, when he gets inside their house and attacks them in the kitchen?

Answer: Mint sauce

Among other things that are thrown at the were-sheep Grant (like haggis), Henry comes upon several bottles labeled "Mint Sauce" which he splashes in Grant's face. This makes his face burn as if having been touched by acid!
13. To which character does Experience direct the questions "Is that blood? Have you been eating meat? Was it even organic?"

Answer: Were-sheep Grant

This happens when Experience and Henry find were-sheep Grant inside a barn from which they have heard the sounds of shearing. She notices the blood on his mouth and face. It is worth noting that the special effects in the movie were done by WETA Workshops, which also worked on "Lord of the Rings".
14. Does the "hippie", Grant, survive the were-sheep episode?

Answer: Yes

By the end of the movie, it seems all the sheep are under control and Tucker sprays the final sheep with the antidote. This turns out to be Grant as he changes back to his human form, oddly still wearing his vest but probably not any pants, as Mrs. Mac hands him a blanket to wrap around his waist.
15. The conclusion of the film has Henry selling the sheep farm off to forever get away from all the problems it has caused.

Answer: False

In fact, it seems Henry decides to stay on the sheep farm indefinitely. Experience suggests that the farm switch to organic farming and he and Tucker consider this a good idea.
