Hrundi V. Bakshi (Peter Sellers) is from India. He has been brought to Hollywood to play a relatively minor role. Impeccably polite and well-intended, Hrundi, unfortunately is accident-prone.

Hrundi is cast to sound a warning with his bugle. Hrundi is so involved with his bugle playing that the rest of the cast turns their attention to Hrundi and begin firing at him. Hrundi continues to play even after the scene is over.

The crew and cast are taking a break before the last big scene, in which a fort is to be blown up. Hrundi, while trying to tie his sandals, accidentally steps on the firing device and blows up the fort. The cameras are not rolling, so the entire film is destroyed.

The director is furious and fires Hrundi on the spot. He says, "I'll see to it that you never make another movie again!" Hrundi replies, "Does that include television, Sir?"

Hrundi is invited to the party through a clerical error. It was Mr. Clutterbuck's intention to see that Mr. Bakshi never get another acting job, but instead Hrundi's name is added to the guest list.

As Hrundi is welcomed at the door, he notices that he has traipsed through some mud and one shoe is very dirty. He tries to rinse it off in the waterway but it falls off and it is transported throughout the house.

As Wyoming Bill (Denny Miller) is playing pool with his date, Hrundi interrupts and wants to learn the art of pool. Soon, Hrundi realizes that Wyoming Bill is one of his favorite film stars. They shake hands and Hrundi comments that, "I would have been disappointed if you hadn't crushed my hand."

Mr. Divot (Gavin McLeod) brings Michele (Claudine Longet) to the party as his guest, intending to introduce her to Mr. Clutterbuck and perhaps land her a part in a film. Even so, Mr. Divot has ulterior motives.

Hrundi finds Michele crying alone in a bedroom. He tries to console her by offering her pithy sayings. He first says, "Wisdom is the province of the aged, but the heart of a child is pure." Unfortunately, neither one of them understand that particular saying although it breaks the mood. Next, Hrundi offers, "30 days hath September, October, June and February... all the rest have 29 except my brother who got six months." Of course, it doesn't make any sense, but it made her laugh.

Answer: He dumps many of the guests in the pool.

Previously, Hrundi has used the main control system to say "birdie, num num" and "howdy, partner" into the loudspeaker. This time, he cause the floors beneath the guests to disappear, plunging them into the pool below.

Answer: an elephant

Hrundi is quite upset that Molly and her friends have painted slogans all over Jongo, the elephant. He insists that they wash the elephant off and remove all of the slogans. The pool fills full of suds and the jazz band continues to play oblivious to the overwhelming sud onslaught. Finally, amidst the continuing chaos, Hrundi drives off with Michele in his curious three-wheeled vehicle, perhaps, to continue their romance later.
