Yes, Elton John and Brian Ferry were considered to fill the lead singer role before they hired Gordon Haskell and Box Burrell instead to handle the vocals.
It was bassist Greg Lake (not Keith Emerson) who was an early member of King Crimson before going on to bigger fame with Emerson Lake and Palmer. Rock critic Tom Maginnis called Joe Jackson's "On Your Radio", "an honest yet cutting kiss-off to all those who ever doubted him. The track is a fine example of Jackson's early career trademark mix of caustic wit and melodic zeal." The song was the lead single from this second album. Joe Jackson studied musical composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and is able to play violin in addition to piano which he handled on this album.

Answer: Iron & Wine

Samuel Beam's stage name is Iron & Wine. He described his youth this way, He recalls, "In my room, the radio was really always forever on. I grew up drawing. I was always drawing, all the time, with the radio on." Samuel used to work in the film industry, like me, only he was a "lighting engineer" or in the parlance of the film industry, a "gaffer." He worked on the Mel Gibson film "The Patriot" and then became a professor of cinematography at The University of Miami.

Answer: Mark Knopfler

Mr. Knopfler is perhaps best known as the frontman of the band Dire Straits ("Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing".) His work as a film composer is wonderful. "Local Hero" starring Peter Riegert and Burt Lancaster has one of my favorite film scores of all time. Knopfler has also composed scores for "The Princess bride" and "Wag the Dog" two excellent films.

"So blow a kiss to Radio City
My forever silhouette
Oh, you are so pretty
My beautiful Rockette
You've got my arms
And the crosstown horns
Going on - we've got it going on."
