1. Who led the Major Leagues in 2002 with the highest batting average?

Answer: Barry Bonds

Bonds hit .370 in 2002 with the Giants. He also batted .471 in the 2002 World Series loss to the Angels. 2002 saw Bonds win his 2nd consecutive National League MVP Award, and his 5th overall.
2. What was the original franchise name of the Philadelphia Phillies?

Answer: Quakers

The franchise began in 1883 with the Quakers name. In 1890, it was changed to the Phillies until 1943, when it changed to the Blue Jays. 1945 saw the Phillies name return to the franchise. The team found their first World Series Crown in 1980.
3. What two sluggers retired with 521 home runs?

Answer: Willie McCovey & Ted Williams

The only pair that was not matched up with a pitcher, McCovey and Williams blasted the league consistently. Willie McCovey, mostly with the Giants over 22 seasons, and Williams in 19 seasons, all with the Red Sox. At the end of the century, they were ranked 11th all-time, but have since been passed by Barry Bonds.

Answer: Casey Stengel

All of Casey's manager appearances in the World Series, was with the Yankees from 1949-1960. It wasn't hard with one of the most talented, and well-balanced rosters in baseball history. From Yogi, Rizutto, DiMaggio, and Johnny Mize, to Mantle, Tony Kubek, Bobby Richardson, and some of the greatest arms in history, the Yankees were almost a cinch to make it to the World Series.

In their 10 appearances under Casey, New York won 7 times. Unfortunately after a stellar career, Casey retired after 4 consecutive 10th place finishes with the Mets.
5. How many Rookie of the Year Awards, did Pete Rose win throughout his 24 season career?

Answer: 1

Pete won the Rookie of the Year in 1963 with the Cincinnati Reds. It was this year that he earned the official nickname of 'Charlie Hustle'. He led the league in batting 3 times, and was the 1973 National League MVP. A player may only win the Rookie of the Year award in their rookie season.
6. In addition to a most famous nickname, what player also had the nickname of 'Biscuit Pants'?

Answer: Lou Gehrig

Mostly known for his nickname of 'Iron Horse', 'Biscuit Pants' followed him around also. Gehrig did not like this nickname, and the opposing teams knew this. Henry Louis Gehrig's born name was Ludwig Heinrich Gehrig.
7. Who was the second player in history (after Babe Ruth), to hit 50 home runs in a season twice?

Answer: Jimmie Foxx

Foxx hit 58 with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1932, then another 50 with the Red Sox in 1938. The third to pull this off was Kiner, who hit 51 in his 2nd season of baseball, and then hit 54 in his 4th season in 1949.
8. What player hit 40 home runs for the Atlanta Braves in 2002?

Answer: Nobody

None listed were Braves in 2002. Andruw Jones led Atlanta by hitting 35 home runs. Chipper Jones hit 26, and Gary Sheffield hit 25. The team won the National League Eastern Division, but lost to the Giants in the Division Series.
9. Which of the following years, did the Arizona Diamondbacks go to the World Series?

Answer: 2001

The Diamondbacks won the World Series in 2001, by defeating the New York Yankees 4 games to 3. The team did not exist until 1998.
10. Who was the first player to win the American League MVP Award 3 times?

Answer: Jimmie Foxx

Foxx, the only American Leaguer listed, won the awards in 1932, 1933, and 1938. The first two came in an Athletic uniform, and the last in a Red Sox uniform. Nicknamed 'Double X', and 'The Beast', Foxx retired with 534 home runs, along with a .325 batting average. He died in 1967.
