Answer: Milwaukee

They played in Milwaukee with the greats of Hank Aaron and Eddie Mathews before moving at the close of the '65 season to Atlanta. Bobby Bragen managed them in both cities.
2. What 'Flying Dutchman' was born John Peter ______ ?

Answer: Honus Wagner

John Peter 'Honus' Wagner played for 21 seasons ending in 1917. He retired with a .327 batting average along with 722 stolen bases. The 'Flying Dutchman' was his nickname almost his entire career. He passed away in 1955.
3. Both 2002 World Series managers played for which team together?

Answer: Dodgers

Mike Scioscia and Dusty Baker both played for the Dodgers. The catcher Scioscia played from 1980 to 1992, and the left fielder Baker played for the Dodgers from 1976-1983. They were both on the Dodger roster together from 1980-1983.
4. How many home runs did Eddie Gaedel retire with?

Answer: 0

Eddie Gaedel was the 3'7" pinch hitter for the St.Louis Browns in 1951. It created a fiasco for baseball by the hand of Bill Veeck to almost certainly produce a walk. Gaedel appeared at the plate one time only in his only game and he walked. He was 26 years old at the time of his appearance.
5. Which of the following people was inducted into the Hall of Fame first?

Answer: Connie Mack

Mack was inducted in the second year of this award in 1937. He was a manager at the time and continued managing the Athletics for another 13 years before retiring. Gehrig was the only other baseball player listed and was inducted in 1939.
6. What team skunked their World Series opponents 4 games to 0, eight times in the 20th Century?

Answer: Yankees

No other team listed did this even once. There are numerous teams who have beaten their opponent 4 games to 0, but no team other than the Yankees have done it more than once in the 20th Century. They did this in the following years: 1927, 1928, 1932, 1938, 1939, 1950, 1998, and 1999.
7. Which of the following players was awarded a season MVP award?

Answer: George Burns

Burns played in the big leagues from 1914-1929 with numerous teams including Detroit and Cleveland. He won the MVP in 1926 at age 33 as the Indians first baseman. He retired in 1929. The MVP awards were started in 1911, six years before Wagner retired after playing 21 seasons. Wagner never received the coveted award.
8. In 1900, the Pittsburgh Pirates were managed by who?

Answer: Fred Clarke

Clarke took the team to a 79-60 record for a 2nd place finish in the National League. They were led by the great Honus Wagner. Other managers listed led their teams 50 years later.
9. Who was the first batter to strikeout 200 times in a season in the 20th Century?

Answer: Nobody did it

Nobody struck out that many times in a season in the century. Bobby Bonds set a record (for the 20th century) by striking out 189 times in 1970. He broke his own record of 187 in 1969.
10. How many times did Rogers Hornsby receive the Cy Award during his great career?

Answer: 0

The Cy Young award is given out to the most outstanding pitcher in a season. Hornsby never pitched in the Majors but he did receive numerous batting citations and set many records. He played 23 seasons and retired in 1937.
