Lawrence Peter Berra took over the reins of home plate as catcher, replacing the retiring Hall of Fame great Bill Dickey in 1946. In seven seasons from 1950-1956, Yogi was in the top four of the MVP voting in every season, and won three AL MVPs. Berra went to 14 World Series with the Yankees while winning 10. The hall took him in 1972.

Nicknamed "Rocket", William Roger Clemens played with four teams throughout his 24-season career. Amongst his seven Cy Young awards, Roger pulled one MVP out in 1986. Although throwing a Triple Crown and winning the Cy Young in both the 1997 and 1998 seasons, he finished 10th and 11th for the MVP voting, respectively. Clemens had a 354-184 career record along with 4672 strikeouts.

Although Fox batted .375 in the series, Dodger pitcher Larry Sherry was the series MVP.

John Peter Wagner earned the nickname, "Flying Dutchman". Honus played for three seasons with the Louisville Colonels of the National League. When the team went defunct after the 1899 season, the top notch Colonel players moved over to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

This resulted in a second place Pirate finish in 1900, then three consecutive National League pennants. Wagner died in 1955, one month after the great Cy Young.
