Answer: Vida Blue

Vida began his Major League career in 1969 with Oakland. In 1971, he won both the Cy Young and MVP Award for going 24-8 with an ERA of 1.82. Blue went 209-161 over 17 seasons, and retired as a San Francisco Giant in 1986.
2. Who was this colorful person to manage the Philadelphia Phillies to their first World Series crown?

Answer: Dallas Green

Green took the Phillies to their third World Series appearance in franchise history in 1980. They defeated the Kansas City Royals four games to two. The Phillies were led by pitcher Steve Carlton and third baseman Mike Schmidt. It was the only time that Green took a team to the postseason, but it was a big one.
3. Daniel Joseph Staub was more commonly known as Rusty Staub. Although rusty is a color, which other colored name was he known as?

Rusty, who had red hair, began his career with the Colt .45s of Houston in 1963. Six times he was selected to the All-Star game, and led the league in doubles with 44 in 1967. He played with four different teams over his 23 seasons, and retired in 1985.

Red could not muster a winning season until his seventh year. His prior seasons including a 10-25 and 9-22 record. He rebounded well in 1930 by going 15-8. His four 20-game winning seasons were all consecutive, from 1936-1939. Not hard with the Yankees that had some greats including Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, Lou Gehrig, and a cast of others.

Whitey was a career New York Yankee from 1950-1967. He won the Cy Young Award in 1961, when only one award was presented in the entire Major Leagues of Baseball. He went to 11 World Series, and walked away with a 10-8 record. Ford was 236-106 throughout his career, and was inducted into the hall in 1974.

The player and later manager of the Cardinals was Red Schoendienst. He played quite a few positions for them over his 15 seasons, and also played for six seasons with the Braves and Giants. Red hung up his glove and bat in 1963, then took the helm of the Cardinals in 1965. Schoendienst managed them for 12 seasons, taking them to two NL Crowns and one World Series crown.

He stepped down after the 1976 season, then came back for 1980, and again for 1990 before being replaced by Joe Torre.

Mickey played in the 1920s and 1930s with the Tigers and Athletics. He was the American League MVP in both 1928 and 1934, although batting only .293 in 1928. Cochrane went to five World Series in his career, and came away with three rings.
