Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many points are awarded for a reversal?

Answer: 2

A reversal is where wrestlerA is in the bottom position and he reverses the control of wrestlerB to where he is controlling wrestlerB.
2. How many points are awarded for an escape?

Answer: 1

Points are awarded for an escape when wrestlerA is in the bottom position and breaks wrestlerB's control to get into the neutral position (both standing up).
3. How many points are awarded for a takedown?

Answer: 2

Although it is up to the discretion of the referee to award the takedown, it is generally when wrestlerA has complete control of the wrestlerB, when wrestlerB has more than 2 points of stance.
4. How many team points are awarded for a minor decision?

Answer: 3

A minor decision is when a wrestler defeats his opponent by 7 or less points.
5. Which of the following would stop a match?

Answer: pin fall

WrestlerB is pinned when wrestlerA has both of wrestlerB's shoulder blades touching the mat for 3 seconds (probably the most biased call in wrestling because the call lies entirely with the ref).
6. A technical fall will stop a match.

Answer: true

If at any point during a match, wrestler A has at least 15 points more than wrestler B, the match will be stopped due to a technical fall, and wrestler A will be awarded 5 team points.
7. Which of the following will award 4 team points?

Answer: major decision

A major decision is when at the end of the match wrestlerA has outscored wrestlerB by 8-14 points.
8. How long is a typical match in minutes (excluding overtime)?

Answer: 6

A match consists of 3-two minute periods.
9. How long is the first overtime period?

Answer: one minute

If both wrestlerA and wrestlerB are tied at the end of regulation, an overtime period will ensue. The first person to score ANY points (penalties included) wins. If at the end of the first overtime no one has scored, a second overtime will occur. Should no one score after that, the match will end in a tie.
10. What is it called when one wrestler fails to make any attempt to better his situation (either on top, on bottom, or fails to shoot while neutral)?

Answer: stalling

Once again it is under the discretion of the referee to call. If wrestlerA gets three stalling calls against him, wrestlerB will be awarded a penalty point. A fourth call will result in two points. It is also known as 'passivity'.
