Answer: North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA)

The NCHSAA oversees everything from player eligibility to playoff seeding. THe NCHSAA is the governing body for all high school sports.
2. What high school located in Gastonia, won the 3AA state championship in 2002?

Answer: Ashbrook High School

Gastonia Ashbrook defeated Greensboro Dudley 19-18 to win the state championship for the first time as a 3AA school. In 1974, Ashbrook won the state championship in the 4A class by beating Sanford Cental 13-12.
3. What is the mascot of Ashbrook High School?

Answer: Green Wave

The Ashbrook Green Wave have produced several professional athletes including former NBA legend James Worthy, and MLB pitcher Wes Helms.
4. What school won the first NCHSAA state football championship?

Answer: Raleigh

Raleigh defeated Washington 29-0 in 1913. Raleigh also won the 1914 and 1915 state championships 117-0 over Asheville, and 6-0 over Charlotte.

Crest was forced to forfeit the semi-final game to Grimsley 1-0, after it was discovered that Crest had been playing with an ineligible player. Grimsley lost the state title game to Rose 21-0.
10. Which of the following is the mascot for East Lincoln High School located in Denver, North Carolina?

Answer: Mustangs

The Mustangs are part of the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A conference. Other teams in this conference include, North Lincoln Knights, West Lincoln Rebels, Highland School of Technology Rams, Lincolnton Wolves, Cherryville Ironmen, and Bessemer City Yellow Jackets.
