1. Football/Soccer - At the World Cup in 1974, Germany beat The Netherlands in a thrilling final in Munich 2-1. However, who was the winner of the Golden Boot Award for the tournament?

Answer: Grzegorz LATO (Poland)

Grzegorz scored seven goals in the tournament. He also won a gold medal with Poland at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. He presented the national team on 35 occasions and scored 18 goals. During this same tournament, Neeskens (5 goals), Muller (4 goals) and Rivelino (3 goals).
2. American Football - Originating from rugby football, the first game of American football was played on November 6, 1869 between which two college teams?

Answer: Rutgers and Princeton

This first game resulted in a win for Rutgers 6-4. The game was played to a mixture of rugby-style rules, however, in 1880 Walter Camp (1859-1925) secured various rule changes and to this day is still considered the "Father of American Football". The game in the USA is the most-played sport at high school and college level.

The match between USA vs. The British Empire's Canadian Province was the first official international cricket match played in 1844 at St. George's Cricket Club, Bloomingdale Park, New York. The match took place over 2 days and was watched by nearly 20,000 spectators. The first official Test match was played in Melbourne in 1877 between Australia and England.
5. Ice Hockey: Where was the first Ice Hockey World Championship held?

Bobby Jones was the first player to have won all four majors in the same year. The year was 1930 when he won the US Open, US Amateur, British Open and the British amateur. At the time these were the four majors of golf as the Masters and US PGA only came into being in 1934 and 1960 respectively.

The Masters started in 1934 and although the US PGA started as a tournament in 1916 it was only considered as a major around 1960 with the advent of professional golf, when Arnold Palmer suggested he could win the The US Open, British Open, Masters and US PGA to match Bobby Jones feat of 1930. Nicklaus, Woods, Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen are the only golfers up to 2015 who have won all four majors. No one has duplicated Jones feat of 1930 in the same year.

Fangio (1911 - 1995) won the title in 1951, 54, 55, 56 and 1957, Ascari (1918 - 1955) won in 1952 and 53 and Hawthorn (1929-1959) was the first British winner in 1958. Giuseppe Farina (1906 - 1966) qualified as a doctor of law at Turin University and served in the Italian army during WWII.

Lacrosse has it's roots through the Native American Iroquois people who inhabited north-eastern USA around the 12th century. There are six players per team in Box lacrosse which is played on a ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. There are 5 players per team in Intercrosse which is played on a field 20 metres wide and 40 metres long.
