Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Counselor Troi enjoys a brief romance with a Human who has been genetically engineered.

Answer: The Masterpiece Society

The man named Aaron, who is the leader of the Human colony inside the artificially-created civilization on the planet, takes a liking to the Enterprise's counselor upon her arrival. He explains to her, Geordi and Riker that all of the Humans there are descendants of those who were genetically engineered years and years ago, programmed without flaws and with a life's purpose already pre-determined from birth.

But Troi confesses that she'd never be able to fall in love with Aaron, as introducing a half-Betazoid into the society could cause internal rifts among Aaron's colleagues, considering the Human society had initially not wanted to interact with outsiders.
2. Riker, while down on a planet, is running while carrying an unconscious Federation scientist over his back before successfully taking refuge in a mountain cliff and getting beamed up to the Enterprise.

Answer: Who Watches The Watchers?

The Federation scientist named Palmer, who was part of the planetary survey team observing the Mintakans, was found laying in the rocky cliffs by the pre-warp aliens following the disastrous incident inside of the lab. After Palmer is discovered in the Mintakan encampment a short while later, Riker attempts to carry the unconscious Palmer on foot before anybody notices.

Unfortunately, Riker is spotted, and then begins his desperate run through the cliffs with Palmer carried on his back, all while trying to avoid one of the Mintakan men who is armed with a crossbow.

The ship's first officer eventually manages to find an enclosure within the cliffs where he can hide and be safely beamed off the planet before the Mintakan archer can find him, all of it to avoid violating the Prime Directive.
3. An alien shows off a walking handstand to his alien companions and Wesley in this episode.

Answer: Justice

After being greeted by the Edo down on the planet, Riker and the rest of the senior staff accompany the other adults while Wesley breaks off to meet up with the other teenagers. One of the teenage Edo boys shows off his agility by demonstrating a walking handstand on the sidewalk; in response, Wesley counters with a few acrobatic cartwheels.

The kids are so excited that even one of the teenage Edo girls wants to show Wesley something special.
4. After a discussion, Guinan fakes an injury in order to make an important point to Picard about letting his guard down.

Answer: I, Borg

This one may require some extra thinking! There's a scene in this episode when Picard and his mysterious El-Aurian friend are engaged in a fencing match. Stopping to rest for a moment, the two briefly talk about 'Hugh', the single living drone retrieved from the damaged Borg ship.

While Picard and the crew lean on the side of trying to humanize Hugh, the cautious Guinan believes he should be handled differently: as the destructive enemy that her people have come to know. Not wanting to discuss the matter further, Picard stands up and prepares for another match, a disappointed Guinan reluctantly following suit.

But midway through, Guinan suddenly bends over and appears to be in agony. Then when Picard asks if she's alright, she quickly recovers and thrusts her épée right into Picard's unguarded, wide-open body.

The Ten Forward bartender states that the captain's sympathy got him in trouble, an ominous warning hinting that handling Hugh in the same manner could steer the Enterprise crew into danger.
5. Picard is relaxing in his quarters, listening to classical music and playing along with his tin whistle, but every time he is interrupted by a crewmember wanting to speak to him, he must pause the music out of frustration, replaying from the beginning after the crewmember leaves.

Answer: A Fistful Of Datas

A humorous moment in the opening teaser in this episode, which begins with Picard voicing a log and stating how the crew is planning to spend time relaxing and enjoying themselves. Although Picard doesn't get to enjoy himself as much as he would like...at least not initially.

He is in his quarters, listening to classical music and playing along with his tin whistle when the chimes to his doors sound. Upon answering, Geordi and Data enter, updating the captain about an experiment they've been working on in Engineering (which eventually leads to all of the holodeck troubles later on). Once they leave, Picard starts the classical score from the beginning and plays along again. Moments later, the door chimes sound again, and this time Dr. Crusher enters upon answering, reminding the captain about a special theatrical event she wants him to be a part of.

When she leaves, Picard again starts the music from the beginning. But the door chimes sound a third time, an exasperated Picard practically yelling for the person to come in. Worf becomes the next intrusion, telling the captain he's wanting to run some security drills.

In only this particular case, Picard is a bit concerned that his Chief of Security is anxious to immerse himself in work, rather than indulge in R & R like the rest of the crew.
6. Geordi exchanges his VISOR for a pair of dark shades in order to remain disguised in this episode.

Answer: Time's Arrow, Part 2

In order to 'blend in' with the rest of the Humans in 19th-century San Francisco while also avoiding detection by the the time-traveling Devidians, the away team initially takes on various roles to avoid suspicion. Geordi, dressed in a spiffy suit and hat to match, is wearing his VISOR whenever he and his fellow crewmembers are alone and scanning the hotel for alien readings.

But he removes his VISOR and puts on a pair of shades to pose as a blind man, with Counselor Troi escorting him about, whenever the hotel's robust lady of a manager demanding rent storms into the room.
7. The experiment of a dead alien scientist is discovered to be responsible for radiation eating holes through a bulkhead in a corridor and through a wall in sickbay onboard the Enterprise.

Answer: A Matter Of Perspective

The Tanugan scientist named Dr. Apgar had been working on an experiment to generate a phenomenon called Krieger waves. While the investigation of his apparent 'murder' is being conducted, the team of Geordi, Wesley and Data are taking a scientific route to prove Riker's innocence.

It starts with the discovery of a hole that has eaten through a bulkhead in a corridor; Wesley and Geordi are baffled as to what can cause that type of powerful radiation. Later, while Dr. Crusher is tending to a patient in sickbay, she is ordered to evacuate when the radiation again invades the ship, a second hole now eating through a wall. Back at Riker's trial, Geordi concludes that Dr. Apgar's experiment actually did work, demonstrating that the re-created holographic version of the lab was acting as a mirror to re-deflect the Krieger waves that were already being generated down on the planet.
8. Counselor Troi is seen running from a wolf in this episode.

Answer: Dark Page

After being linked to the mind of her Betazoid mother by the telepath named Maques, Troi begins her solo journey of getting to the root of her mother's troubles. She encounters an array of various images, including representations of Captain Picard himself, the Cairn girl (who was speaking to Geordi in Ten Forward earlier in the episode) and a big bad wolf (well, maybe not all that bad; at least it wasn't trying to eat her and didn't even pretend to be grandma).

The latter of the three, as Troi interpreted, may have been mom trying to prevent daughter from discovering the truth, a literal 'mental watchdog', perhaps.

In one instance, the wolf begins snarling and chases Troi through a darkened version of the ship's corridors until she arrives safely in a room behind closed doors.
9. An away team beams down to a planet, attempting to get to a wrecked Enterprise shuttle, but a pool of liquid blocks everyone's path...and follows them wherever they try to walk.

Answer: Skin Of Evil

This first-season classic marking the death of Tasha Yar begins with Counselor Troi's shuttle having crash-landed down on Vagra II. When the away team of Riker, Dr. Crusher, Data and Yar beam down to the surface to investigate, they discover a pool of black liquid on the ground blocking their path. Looks innocent enough, until that black liquid follows them whenever the away team tries to walk around it. Finally, the mysterious humanoid creature that would introduce himself as Armus rises up from the pool, warning everyone not to traverse further.

But a determined Yar disobeys and chooses to proceed anyway, which then leads to Armus using its powers to zap the then-Chief Of Security with a life-draining force, killing her instantly.
10. Enterprise crewmembers step foot on a planet, where there are no other living humanoids to be seen, in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Transfigurations

This one's very tricky! At the beginning of "The Best Of Both Worlds, Part 1", the away team beams down to the planet, only to see the large impact crater that is the remainder of what was supposed to be an Earth colony. No survivors are seen, and no other people from other parts of the planet are encountered either.

It's determined later that the Borg were responsible. In "The Arsenal Of Freedom", there were at least a couple of times where someone's computer readings confirmed that there were no lifesigns on the planet. We only see the holographic projections of the alien weapons salesman, the 'mysterious man' appearing to be Captain Rice (a former friend of Riker's) and the flying weapons themselves.

Then in "Lessons", Commander Daren and her science team are the only people that are actually seen down on the planet that was being threatened by the firestorms.

The planet's colonists themselves would not be seen until evacuation is already in progress, when patients from the colony's unseen hospital facilities appear on the Transporter Room pad and are being helped by Dr. Crusher's medical staff. So that leaves "Transfigurations" as the correct answer. During the opening teaser, the away team beams down to the planet where it will discover the injured body of its 'John Doe' in the alien escape pod wreckage. Even though we will eventually see him evolve into his destined metamorphic being of energy and light, Dr. Crusher had explicitly stated that humanoid lifesigns, however weak, were detected as she, Riker, Geordi and Data are all preparing for departure beforehand.
