Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which city is the series set?

Answer: Bristol

The characters often make reference to the fact that they reside ('live' is not really the right word) in Bristol. The location shots for the series are filmed in Bristol. This was made abundantly clear when George was shown waking up after one of his transformations, stark naked and stranded near the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Truly the stuff of nightmares!
2. In 'Being Human', vampires can tolerate daylight.

Answer: True

Mitchell is frequently seen out in daylight. He is not 100% comfortable with it and his eyes are sensitive to light, hence the sexy sunglasses, but he appears to suffer no other ill effects.
3. When did Mitchell become a vampire?

Answer: World War I

John Mitchell came across William Herrick and a group of vampires picking over a group of dead and injured soldiers, trying to find some who were still alive and who could be converted to vampires. Mitchell allowed himself to be converted on the proviso that the other soldiers were left untouched.
4. What religion is George?

Answer: Jewish

George doesn't really practice his religion. He believes that his 'condition' ie being a werewolf, is an affront to all that is holy. He is ashamed and disgusted by his monthly transformations. He still wears a Star of David pendant, which has some effect in repelling vampires. Mitchell is immune to the Star of David because of his and George's close friendship.
5. How did Annie die?

Answer: Pushed down stairs during an argument with Owen

At the beginning of the series, it is believed that Annie fell down the stairs in a tragic accident and that Owen is still grieving for his dead fiance. However, it later becomes clear that Owen pushed Annie down the stairs during an argument about his infidelity. Annie is unable to 'move on' as she still has unfinished business with Owen.
6. Which character has an IQ of 156 and speaks six languages?

Answer: George

George speaks English, Croatian, French, German, Italian and Spanish. He is somewhat innocent and unworldly though. He abandoned his previous life, his job, family and girlfriend after becoming a werewolf.

Nina, George's girlfriend, is undoubtedly intelligent but her IQ and linguistic abilities have not been discussed. We're not sure of Annie's intellectual capabilities. Owen was less than complimentary about her and it is possible he has undermined Annie's confidence. Janey is Owen's new girlfriend and Annie's old 'friend'. She is unlikely to be troubled by any thoughts other than her own appearance, which is somewhat orange as she runs a tanning salon.
7. Where do George and Mitchell work?

Answer: Hospital

George is a porter and Mitchell is a cleaner. Their work appears to be largely unsupervised which enables George to take off for his monthly transformations. The gorgeous Mitchell is very popular with the female staff at the hospital. However, his liaisons have not ended happily.

He converted Lauren into a very unhappy, bloodthirsty vampire in a rare moment when he couldn't control his blood lust, or indeed the more traditional type of lust! He then dated another nurse, whom Lauren attacked and killed, goading Mitchell to 'save' the nurse by turning her into another vampire. Mitchell is often torn as to whether to 'save' people who are on the verge of death, but on this occasion he let the nurse die.
8. What 'human' job does the vampire Herrick have?

Answer: Police sergeant

Herrick seems to be the chief vampire in Bristol. His job as a police officer puts him in an excellent position to cover up for any deaths caused by vampire-related activity. Seth, his sidekick, also runs an undertakers facility, which also comes in useful for their conversion work.
9. Herrick was killed in the last episode of Series 1. Who killed him, and how and where did they do it?

Answer: George, with his teeth, in the hospital basement

Mitchell agreed to meet Herrick for a showdown. George thought that this would result in Mitchell's 'death', and misled Mitchell into turning up at the wrong place. Meanwhile, knowing that there was a full moon that night, George went to meet Herrick instead, and killed him whilst in his wolf form. So far as we know, this is the first time that George has killed anything apart from animals.

Lauren helped the friends escape when they were surrounded by vampires at the undertakers' shop. She then begged Mitchell to stake her, as she hated her life as a vampire. Always the gentleman, Mitchell obliged.
10. Based on the ending of the last episode, what is most likely to happen to Nina?

Answer: She will become a werewolf

Until George's showdown with Herrick, Nina was completely unaware of the less than human nature of the three friends. She tries to go to George when he is locked in the hospital basement and turning into a werewolf, but is pulled away by Mitchell and Annie. However, at the end of the episode she is shown examining some large scratches on her body.
