Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Oceanic airplane crashed in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Where did the plane take off from?

Answer: Sydney, Australia

The plane departed from Sydney International Airport and was destined to land in Los Angeles, California. On this route the plane hit turbulence and crashed into the Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
2. So, now that we have established, where the plane departed from, where was the plane going?

Answer: Los Angeles, California

The plane heading to Los Angeles, California hit turbulence and crashed into the Island. To this day the survivors remain stranded.
3. The very first thing we saw on the very first episode, may have been a bit confusing for some people. What was the first thing we saw?

Answer: Jack waking up to see Vincent

In episode 1- "Pilot", the following occurs;
"A man awakes in a jungle (Jack). He is bruised and bloody, and doesn't know where he is. A yellow Labrador Retriever (Vincent) watches him from the trees, then suddenly runs off. He forces himself up and winces in pain, leaning against a tree. He checks his jacket pocket and finds a small bottle of vodka. Recognition of where he is begins to float across his face. He winces back the pain and begins to run through the trees, reaching a beautiful beach." Therefore, the first thing we saw was Jack waking up to see Vincent (Walt's dog).
4. Everyone on the Island led a very unusual life prior to the crash and has had some very unique things happen to them. What is unique about Charlie?

Answer: He is a heroin addict

Charlie is a heroin addict. Although he is a bassist in a band, it is not Drive Three, it is called "Drive Shaft". It may seem that he is the father of Claire's baby, as he is always so worried about her and Aaron (the baby), but he really isn't. He has just taken a liking to her, that's all.

He has murdered a person, but not in Sydney. the person he murdered was a survivor from the crash, and was killed on the Island. According to Charlie, he was responsible for hurting Claire.
5. The plane was not on course when they crashed onto the Island, because the radio had died six hours into the flight, so the pilot had decided to turn around and head to Fiji. Unfortunately, they hit some very rough turbulence. How far off course were they when the plane crashed?

Answer: 1 000 miles (One Thousand Miles)

When Jack, Kate and Charlie find the pilot in the cockpit of the plane, the pilot tells them that "We lost our radio six hours into the flight, and we couldn't be seen by anyone. I turned around to head back to Fiji. When we hit turbulence, we were a thousand miles off course. They're looking in the wrong place."
6. Several days go by and the rescuers have not come ("They're looking in the wrong place"). There are a lot of strange sounds in the jungle and animals are attacking the camp. When the survivors first hear sounds in the fuselage, Jack comments "Sawyer". What does Sawyer, reply?

Answer: "Right behind you. Jack- ass"

As we all know, (or at least most of us know), Sawyer is always complaining, pestering others, and doing stuff he shouldn't be doing. Knowing this, Jack automatically suspects Sawyer. Sawyer, who is standing right behind Jack, gets annoyed (as he does so often), and tells Jack that he is "Right behind you, Jack- ass".
7. In "House of the Rising Sun" Jack, Kate, Charlie and Locke are going to go get fresh water from the waterfall, when they find "Adam and Eve". Approximately how long have they been dead?

Answer: 40 years

Jack says that the Island's "Adam and Eve" have no signs of trauma of any sort, and it appears that they have bee laid to rest. When Kate asks how long they have been dead, Jack replies that it takes about 35 to 40 years for clothing to decay as it has. He then decides that they have been dead for an average 40 years.
8. In episode 7, "The Moth", we meet Charlie's older brother; Liam. What do (did) Liam and Charlie both have in common?

Answer: They both do drugs

While in a flashback, Charlie remembers a time when he and his brother are on stage and Liam sings Charlie's part, later, backstage Charlie confronts him. Liam says it was nothing and then takes a bag from a girl. The contents of that bag is some brown powder. With a wink and a smile, Liam leaves. We can therefore assume that the brown substance is some sort of drug. We also know that Charlie is on heroin, which is a drug.
9. Michael doesn't talk about his life before the crash very much, and says very little about himself in general. What do we learn about him, when the caves are being cleared of rubble in "The Moth"?

Answer: That he has experience in construction

While everyone is clearing the rocks from the cave, Michael arrives and observes the work for a moment. He then says that he has eight years of experience in construction, and that it would be wise for him to look around and find a safe place to dig based on stability. Clearing out the caves proves to be far more complex and dangerous then what Jack thought.
10. Charlie has been a heroin addict for quite some time, when Locke finally convinces him to give it up. When Charlie asks for his drugs, Locke tells him that after he has asked three times, they will be Charlie's, once again. After the third time Charlie asks Locke, what happens?

Answer: Locke gives them back and Charlie throws them in the fire

After Charlie rescues Jack from the caves, he asks Locke for his drugs, for the third time. Locke keeps his promise and returns the heroine to Charlie. For a moment, we don't know what is going to happen, but then Charlie throws the whole stash into the fire. Charlie has finally realized that they don't do anyone any good and that life is a struggle, so live with it- or die.
