Peggy wins a contest from a magazine and the prize is a cruise. Because Peggy pulls some strings to get Al, Jefferson and Marcy invited, the four have to share a terrible cabin in steerage. The cruise turns out to be a health cruise for overweight passengers.

However at night, the health food disappears and the party for everyone else begins. Just as the wild party is about to begin, the ship begins to sink.

There are six people in the lifeboat: Al, Peggy, Marcy, Jefferson, Gilbert Gottfreid (who was the ship's entertainment) and an unnamed overweight woman who is responsible for sinking the ship. Apparently, these six were the only people not to be rescued before the ship sinks. Meanwhile, Kelly and Bud deal with the aftermath of their parents being lost at sea, which includes interviews with the press.

Answer: The Phantom of the Opera

Kelly is attending "F Troop" star Larry Storch's acting school. Her assignment is to perform alongside him in a low budget production of "The Phantom of the Opera". Al is a huge fan of Larry but is working a midnight madness sale at the shoe store and tries to figure a way to see Kelly and Larry's show.

Peggy and Marcy attend a bingo invitational and Peggy wins the grand prize of $10,000. However the church hosting the event is on the bad side of town. Al is supposed to pick Peggy and Marcy up after the tournament but he is too busy testing beers with his friends. Peggy and Marcy are forced to take a series of expensive and dangerous cab rides home and Peggy is forced to spend almost all of her winnings on the ride.

Answer: Buck's doghouse

Bud, having struck out again with Marcy's niece Amber, signs up for an experimental virtual reality experience so he can live out his greatest fantasies. Meanwhile, Al and his friends tear the Bundy house apart trying to figure out what a light switch in the kitchen controls. They never figure it out but the switch controls the light in Buck's doghouse.

Answer: Sheos

Kelly gets an assignment for her acting class that she has to make a short film. Al, meanwhile, is desperate to get into the "Shoe News" newsletter. Al and Kelly team up to make a movie about shoes and submit it to the Hammond, Indiana Film Festival. They call the movie "Sheos" (because Kelly misspelled shoes) and it is an instant hit despite its poor quality and production.

This episode was another attempted pilot for a spin-off series. The episode focuses on the students at Trumaine University where Bud attends. Bud is in a love triangle with an attractive student named April (Keri Russell) who likes Bud but it also attracted to the handsome Nikolai. Meanwhile, Mark and Oliver (Andrew Kavovit and Eric Dane) are students running the college radio station.

They have plans to expose the new Dean of Students who turns out to be Steve (in David Garrison's last appearance as Marcy's ex-husband). Marcy discovers this and tries to get Steve fired especially after he begins intimidating Mark and Oliver.

Answer: A bowling tournament

Al gets mugged at the shoe store and spends the night surrounded by shoes. Jefferson convinces him to scam the insurance company by telling them he is too afraid of shoes to work. The insurance company sends an agent to observe Al to make sure he doesn't wear shoes.

However, the bowling championship is coming up and the alley refuses to let Al bowl without shoes. Bud fills in for Al but stinks and Al is forced to step in, with shoes, to win the championship but lose the money.

Answer: He is twelve years old

Kelly mysteriously starts receiving anonymous gifts from a secret admirer. The gifts include meat, jewelry and clothes. The family is not at all concerned where the lavish are coming from because of their greed. However, Kelly's secret admirer reveals himself to be a twelve year old boy named Robbie. Robbie's father is an ad producer and Robbie blackmails Kelly into going with him as her date to his school dance.

Answer: She and Peggy's father broke up

Peggy tells Al her parents had a huge fight and her mother (Kathleen Freeman in voice over only) is moving in with them until things are resolved. Al, desperate to get rid of his mother-in-law, travels to Wanker County to get his father-in-law Ephraim (Tim Conway) to take his wife back but he refuses.
