Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Belonging"- Wesley was seen on the phone. Who was he talking to and wishing "Happy Birthday"?

Answer: his father

Wes was initially speaking to his mother, but had called to give his ever so critical father a birthday greeting. Wes had a lot of father issues throughout his time on the series. We were first offered a look into these in season one's "I've Got You Under My Skin". Fans of "Angel", who were not "Buffy" watchers, may not know that Quentin Travers headed up the Watcher's Council, to whom both Giles and Wesley were employed at one time.

This episode was written by Shawn Ryan. Shawn was a writer and producer on "Angel", and this was the final episode he wrote for Joss and David Greenwalt. Shawn was credited as a producer, though, through the end of season two. Shawn went on to write and produce on "The Unit" and "The Shield", and was the man who created the intense FX drama "The Shield" as well.
2. "Belonging"- The Host (Lorne) was just ending his rendition of "Superstition" when the Drokken demon entered Caritas through a portal.

Answer: True

Andy Hallett gave an energized and sassy rendition of the Stevie Wonder hit, if you ask me. After the demon came through the portal, it ran out of Caritas, knocking down some patrons on its way. Lorne sought out Angel Investigations for help in rounding the demon up, and/or a simple killing it.

It turned out that the demon was from Lorne's dimension and related to Cordy's vision about Winifred Burkle.
3. "Belonging"- Did Rondell and George come to Gunn for the use of his truck?

Answer: Yes

They had big plans to take out a group of vamps, and wanted to use the truck for extra fighting power. Gunn's truck was and remained decked out in jumbo sized stakes. Gunn was pleased to see his old demon hunting buddies, and then a bit saddened by their lack of interest in he himself. They just wanted to use the truck, as Gunn could no longer be relied upon to leave the Angel Investigations team to help out. Gunn promised the men he would be there as well, but due to fighting the Hacklaar demon was late. George was killed by a vamp and Gunn attended his funeral pyre at the end.

Jarrod Crawford played Rondell in three episodes (one more after this one) and Darris Love played George in two. It was these two characters that Wes defended in "The Thin Dead Line", which caused his gunshot wound.
4. "Belonging"- The gang used an old book to send Landok back to Pylea. Cordy recognized it as the book Fred Burkle was reading when she was sucked into a portal five years earlier. Of the gang, which was NOT inside Caritas when Landok and Cordy were sucked back into Pylea?

Answer: Gunn

Landok used the book on stage at Caritas to open the portal that rested there. It was the same space the Drokken came through, and we later learn Lorne came through as well. Cordy was on the far left of the group, watching as Landok went home to Pylea. For some reason, Cordy was sucked into the portal as well, and she was last seen rising from the ground in Pylea. Her first realization that she was not in her dimension was the appearance of two brightly shining suns above her!

There was no way during watching the show to know it, but Brody Hutzler, who played Lorne's cousin Landok, is quite a good looking man! He's guest starred in many TV series, including "Charmed", "7th Heaven", "Young and the Restless" and "Days of Our Lives". His movies include "Legally Blonde" and "Green Flash".
5. "Over the Rainbow"- Which Wolfram and Hart lawyer made their first appearance in this episode?

Answer: Gavin Park

Gavin and his associate Mr. Hayes arrived at the Hyperion to do an appraisal. Gavin explained that the firm wanted to purchase the hotel after Angel's lease expired in six months time. When Angel refused to cooperate, Gavin threatened to contact the realtor and issue a complaint of noncompliance. Daniel Dae Kim played the part of Gavin through season four.

He went on to star as Jin on the highly successful series "Lost". Angel greeted the men with, "Lawyers. Don't you people sleep during the day?" A quick, sexy grin followed Angel's insinuation that lawyers were blood suckers. Nathan Reed became Lilah and Lindsey's boss after the death of Holland Manners.
6. "Over the Rainbow"- How did the citizens of Pylea refer to humans?

Answer: cows

Cordy was chased down by what she called a "hellbeast" just as she arrived in Pylea. The animal didn't harm her, but lead its master to find her.
Pylean hugging his beastie: "You found me a cow."
A disheveled Cordy's response: "Who ya callin' a cow mister?"
The man was taking Cordy to market, and remarked that her chattiness would bring down her price. The lady who purchased Cordy, Vakma, didn't appreciate Cordy's loquacious ways either. Susan Blommaert played Vakma. She also appeared as judges on "Ally McBeal", "The Drew Carey Show", "The Practice", "Family Law" and "Law and Order" (regular AND "SVU").
7. "Over the Rainbow"- Lorne knew a woman who could find the gang a new "hot spot" in which to open another portal to Pylea.

Answer: True

As much as Lorne wanted to avoid going back home, he wanted to help the gang get there to save Cordy. The lady he knew, Aggie, worked at a psychic phone line. She told Lorne that he had to agree to go to Pylea in order for her to help him. He must have consented, because he came back with the location, which happened to be in front of Paramount studios. Persia White played Aggie. "Buffy" fans *may* have recognized her as Aura, the girl that discovered Darla's first on screen victim in the very first episode of the series. Aura was also seen in the second episode of the show and the original unaired pilot episode. Cordy had a phone conversation with her in {"Angel"} season one's "Room W/A Vu".
8. "Over the Rainbow"- Pick the true statement about the car ride into Pylea.

Answer: Gunn came along at the minute, and the book stayed behind

Gunn declined to join the gang due to the guilt he felt over George's death. Angel left him a detailed phone message later, in case they never made it home. So, at the last minute, Gunn arrived at the "hot spot" and hopped into Angel's convertible. Of course, the book used to open the portal stayed behind.

This seem to shock Angel and Wes, though the book stayed behind when Fred went to Pylea and when Landok went back. Gunn too was shocked, when he learned that becoming a hybrid had been a possibility.. No explanation was ever given as to how Gunn found the gang in time to come along, as Angel found out the location after his message to Gunn.
9. "Over the Rainbow"- How did the townspeople of Pylea describe Cordy after she had a vision in public?

Answer: cursed

They repeated described her as "cursed" with the sight. She was a foretold legend for Pyleans, and immediately made their Princess. We learn in the following episodes, that may not have been her best luck at work.
10. "Over the Rainbow"- Were Angel, Gunn, Wes and Lorne taken to the Princess to be sentenced for their crimes?

Answer: Yes

They didn't know they would be taken to a princess, much less that *the* Princess would be Cordy. Constable Narwek told them that they would be sentenced for their crimes, and based on his instructions must have assumed she would have them all killed. They began to fight for their lives in her chamber, until they heard her clear her throat. They looked up, saw her sitting her throne, and she said "hi guys" with a big grin.
Brian Tahash played the constable.
