Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which team was eliminated from the race on the boardwalk of this location seen in Leg 1 (even though it wasn't the Pit Stop!)?

Answer: Kelly and Shevonne

Kelly and Shevonne did what few have done, and that's fail to check in at the race's first Pit Stop. After travelling from Venice Beach, California to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the TMZ Girls were unable to overcome the 'Sidewalk' Detour option until all teams had checked into the Pit Stop at the nearby Arpoador Lookout (at the end of Copacabana).

After three and three quarter hours working at the puzzle, they finally cleared it, but not before Phil could come out and eliminate them on the beach.
2. Legs 2 and 3, held in the same country, used the capital city depicted as their backdrop before teams headed to the Pampas. What city did they visit here?

Answer: Buenos Aires

Though teams commenced the race by heading to sunny Rio de Janeiro, their race course diverted southward to the nation of Argentina for two legs that took them through the unique neighbourhoods of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, before sending them to Las Pampas, the flatlands and home of the gaucho. Two teams went home in these two legs, but not before learning a unique take on the tango, making a gaucho feast, and dressing in polo attire for a horse-themed Detour.
3. Partway through Leg 4, teams had to stamp their passports to enter which country once they crossed the Victoria Falls Bridge?

Answer: Zimbabwe

Teams spent a double-length stay (both Legs 4 and 5) in the nations of Zambia and Zimbabwe in the region around the picturesque Victoria Valls. Leg 4 was mostly held in Zambia, where the teams touched down in Livingstone for a handful of tasks before crossing the Victoria Falls Bridge into the nation of Zimbabwe.

These two legs were more dynamic than expected despite equalizing rests and a keep-on-racing Pit Stop since two Express Passes were used (one by choice and one mandatory), teams skirted by a U-Turn, and placements shifted throughout. Teams returned to this bridge in Leg 6 for a Road Block in which one team member bungee jumped off the side.
4. Leg 5 saw teams visiting Batoka Gorge. The task here was a Switchback based on a task first featured when?

Answer: In the first leg of "The Amazing Race"

In the first-ever "Amazing Race", eleven teams flew to Zambia for their first set of tasks and ended the leg off with a Detour choice between performing a rope swing into Batoka Gorge or taking a long trek down to the same end point (all teams did the former).

This time around, in Leg 5, teams ended up on the Zimbabwe side of the gorge to perform the same rope swing, and Justin, Josh, Kelsey, James Earl, Cindy, Chris, Danielle, and Tiffany performed the leap to get their next clue.
5. Teams visited the Arc de Triomphe for their Pit Stop in Leg 6, but no team was eliminated.

Answer: True

Once again taking a page from the first-ever "Amazing Race", teams flew from Victoria Falls to Paris, France and completed their tasks in the French capital before racing to the Arc de Triomphe, their Pit Stop for the sixth leg of the race. This being said, after a lengthy race through the summer heat of Paris, teams were surprised by their second keep-on-racing leg; no one was eliminated though Denise and James Earl found themselves at the back of the pack.

There was, subsequently, no Speed Bump in the following leg.
6. How many teams searched amongst the windmills of Kinderdijk in Leg 7?

Answer: Seven

Seven teams proceeded straight from the keep-on-racing Pit Stop in Leg 6 to the city of Rotterdam in Leg 7, spending an overnight stay on the canals there before embarking on a trip around the city completing all manner of tasks. Amongst the windmills of Kinderdijk, team members completed a Road Block task searching for a painting to match Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers". Teams ended this leg in front of the Peace Palace in The Hague where Justin and Diana won the cash prize but Cindy and Rick were eliminated in seventh place.
7. Teams toured the Oskar Schindler Factory in Leg 8 during a brief interlude in the race. In which country did they do this?

Answer: Poland

Leg 8 proved demanding for teams, especially the back five (as Justin and Diana had a substantial lead due to convenient flight plans), as they raced through the city of Krakow, Poland. For their Detour, teams either completed heavy lifting or...heavy lifting-- some working in a salt mine and some learning and moving pianos through the city streets-- while for the Road Block team members served up Jewish food. Midway through this leg of the race, teams had a solemn tour through the Oskar Schindler Factory, experiencing a unique, thoughtful break in the race course.
8. Both the ninth and tenth legs of the race were held in what massive Indian city, where teams experienced a traditional wedding procession first-hand?

Answer: Agra

As teams headed out from Europe in Leg 9, they emerged into the sweltering heat and culture shock of India. Both Legs 9 and 10 took teams into Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal, for a series of tasks getting them involved with the local workforce. While the first of these two legs included a Speed Bump and a U-Turn, sealing the fate of frontrunners Tanner and Josh, the latter sent the remaining five teams through the city participating on elements of a traditional Indian wedding culminating in a Pit Stop at the farmhouse holding the event.
9. In the city of Hong Kong, teams had to take a very specific ferry from the Hong Kong Island Terminal to Macau. Which team failed to take the correct boat?

Answer: Justin and Diana

The final four had a flurry of tasks in the cities of Hong Kong and Macau in Leg 11 and Justin and Diana's winning streak, much to the anticipation of the other teams, came to an end in a tense way. After completing their Detour tasks, teams had to make their way to the Hong Kong Island ferry terminal to take a turbojet ferry to Macau. Justin and Diana, already flustered by missteps during their Detour task, inadvertently took the wrong ferry from Kowloon to Macau, running up a fifty-five minute time penalty when they stepped on the Pit Stop mat in third. Fortunately for them, Tiffany and Krista struggled with the Road Block and arrived in last by a narrow margin.
10. In the final leg of the race, the top three teams headed to Randall's Island for a task involving which of these?

Answer: New York City Fire Department

In the final sprint to the finish, three teams made their way to New York City and started with a final Road Block on Randall's Island wherein three participants completed a New York Fire Department training drill (and a memory challenge). This final leg involved three different memory challenges, one on Randall's Island, one on a lobster boat off of the coast of Southampton, and one on the waterfront at the end of Long Island. Following these, Kelsey and Joey crossed the finish line first to win the million dollar prize.
