"Private Practice" - "A Family Thing" Quiz

The episode opened with the new commercial. It involved each of the doctors speaking about their specialties and their mission statements. The overall feel of the commercial was promoting the idea of a 'family' of doctors dedicated to looking after 'your family'.

Answer: To save their son's life.

The couple's seven year old son was dying and they were having another baby so that their son could receive a transfusion of the baby's umbilical cord blood to save his life. The mother had been a patient of Naomi's; Naomi had selected an embryo that would be a match to the couple's son. Addison thought that was unethical of Naomi, but Naomi didn't seem to agree.

Answer: He was in SWAT training.

Last season, Addison had made a date with Kevin, and then hadn't heard from him again. When he showed up again, she was acting a little distant but started to give in when he showed her his SWAT t-shirt. She went out with him, and things must have gone well, because she told Pete she couldn't date him, that there was someone else.

Answer: He was HIV positive.

Cooper was conducting a regular exam of a long time patient, when the boy told him that he had a new girlfriend and they were thinking about having sex. Cooper told him that he was still really young, and that there was no need to rush things, but if they did anything to be sure to use condoms. Later, Cooper met with the boy's parents and told them that he thought it was time to tell their son that was HIV positive - the kid had no idea.

When they did tell him, he became very angry that they had all kept it from him for his entire life and said that they told him too late - he and his girlfriend had already had sex.

Answer: Take a vacation.

Everyone was anticipating getting their yearly bonuses in this episode, and Violet was busy looking through travel brochures for her and Cooper's annual vacation. For this year, Violet chose a resort in Zanzibar. Cooper was reluctant to take a vacation with Violet this year, and she tried to convince him to go by saying that he could probably touch monkeys there. Pete later said that he has been to Zanzibar and that you can indeed touch monkeys.

Answer: Their practice was running out of money.

Addison cornered Naomi in the conference room and demanded to know why Naomi had conceived a baby for their patients, when she knew that they only wanted the baby to save the life of their other child. Naomi admitted that she knew what she did was perhaps not ethically sound, but she had agreed for one main reason: the couple was able to pay the $80,000 fee, and the practice needed money.

She told Addison that she had tried to re-finance their mortgage on the building, but it didn't work out and they were getting very close to being completely broke.

Answer: Dell

Dell, the practice's receptionist, was feeling under-appreciated and also awkward, because he and Naomi had kissed last season, but she then made it clear that she was interested in going back to Sam. Dell confronted Naomi and said that he was tired of helping her cover up the financial situation, and he quit on the spot.

Answer: Yes

When Addison refused to induce labour on the woman who was only six months pregnant, the patient went ahead and made her water break on her own. Addison was summoned to the hospital to help with the delivery. The baby was delivered but was not in good shape, and Addison had to work her magic with a radical new procedure, and the tiny baby lived.

Answer: That she wasn't wearing any panties.

Cooper was previously upset with Charlotte, because he wanted to have more of a relationship with her, but she wanted it to be just sex. He was also upset that he wasn't allowed to tell his friends that he was seeing Charlotte, and he didn't like lying to Violet. Earlier in the episode, he turned Charlotte away even though she told him she was wearing crotchless panties.

When she came to his house, he tried not to let her in, but she told him that she was coming crawling back. He asked, "In crotchless panties?", and she replied "In no panties." He opened the door and let her in.

Answer: $100

Addison went to Sam and told him that Naomi was running their practice into the ground. Sam was reluctant to rock the boat while he and Naomi were on the verge of getting back together, but Addison convinced him that he needed to do what was necessary to help his family (the practice). Sam held a meeting in which he told everyone what was happening with the group's finances and announced that Naomi was relieved of her administrative duties; he would be taking over.

He passed out envelopes containing their bonuses, but everyone got only $100, out of Sam's own pocket.

He said if they wanted more, they had to earn it by seeing more patients and collecting their fees more regularly.
