After Matrix saw AndrAIa get bitten, he raised his gun and readied himself for the kill. Before he got the shot off, Ray got in his way and told him that they would have to capture the creature alive in order to save AndrAIa. Matrix then targeted the creature with his eye, so he could track it into the depths of the Web.

Ray Tracer did not need dead web-creature joints to make him indestructible from the Web's ravaging weather conditions. In surf mode, Ray downloaded a special protection program that worked in any harsh terrain. With the revelation of how he'd be protected from the Web, the adventure continued into the unknown.

Once Matrix caught sight of the creature, he took over the ship's steering and deviated from Ray Tracer's safe path. Matrix flew the ship right into a data storm where the ship was just barely strong enough to hold on. The skin shields held out, but many of the nuts and bolts burst from their foundations. Ray commented on Matrix's stupidity, but Matrix responded by punching him in the face.

After punching Ray in the head, Ray returned to confront Matrix. Matrix targeted Ray with his gun and got ready to shoot when the Captain lowered Matrix's weapon and told him that it was only for Dot's sake that he tolerated such behaviour.

After retrieving Ray's surfboard, which happened to have a large chunk bitten out of it, Matrix decided to go out to the Web. The crew already assumed he would do that, so they pre-planned and built Matrix a suit made of dead web-creatures. Matrix left his gun behind and took only AndrAIa's trident and a special life boat to try and intercept the creature.

Since the episode originally aired in 1998, the only internet connection that existed was dial-up. Because of that, all of the mysterious web-riders talked to each other through dial-up noises. They were aggressive and did not like people poking at their web-creatures, especially outsiders.

Matrix asked what Ray was, after the unlikely rescue. Ray Tracer told Matrix that he was a 2nd generation search engine and that he was just a surfboard that used the sprite format to communicate and open portals.

Once Ray and Matrix got back into the main body of the ship, Matrix told the captain to get everyone to battle stations. Matrix said that something was out there in the Web, something bad. Once Matrix finished his recommendation, the view moved out of the ship and focused on the riders, lining up for an attack.
