Kryten, living a life of total submission was granted clearance, and Lister, despite his number of petty crimes, on Earth was granted clearance. Rimmer wasn't, however; he was sentenced to 9,378 years for second degree murder due to all but one crew member dying on Red Dwarf.

The unknown ship was docked with Red Dwarf and was shaped like a vacuum cleaner. Kryten, Lister and Cat were intrigued by the ship while Rimmer said it was aliens and they were delivering Glenn Miller.
