Alex and Hank had been fighting, so her promotion was a surprise to her and Kara.

"You two really did bury the hatchet didn't you?" Kara asked.
"Protocol had line of succession classified." Alex responded.

2. What did Kara almost forget to wear when bringing Kat Grant her morning coffee?

Answer: her glasses

After Cat had accused her of being Supergirl in the end of the previous episode, Kara almost forgot to put her glasses on.

She realized that she wasn't wearing them just seconds before Cat would have seen her without them on.
