Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of Leg 5, teams were told to travel to which city, also the capital of Lithuania?

Answer: Vilnius

Departing from the Pit Stop at the Hotel de Ville in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (in Western Africa), teams were instructed to head to the airport and fly to Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania more than three thousand miles away. Upon arriving they would need to take a marked car from the airport parking lot to St. Anne's Church. To get to Lithuania, teams were required to purchase tickets from the counters at the Ouagadougou Airport specifically or satellite offices; all teams ended up getting on the same late flight to Paris and continued from there to either Amsterdam, Frankfurt, or Prague.
2. In Leg 5 in Lithuania, which team member completed the Road Block?

Answer: Kynt

Arriving at the Church of St. Anne, teams found the Road Block clue instructing them to choose one member to be 'a good listener'. For this, one chosen team member needed to play messenger. Once they met up with a woman in the nearby courtyards of Vilnius, they needed to deliver a package to someone else located in the Old Quarter of the city. From here, they needed to deliver an additional package to one of four locations to receive their next clue. Nicolas, Kynt, Hendekea, Ronald, TK, Jennifer and Shana finished this task before receiving their next clue.
3. Before beginning the Detour task in Leg 5 (in Lithuania), teams needed to locate the Travelocity mascot in a small village. What would this mascot be?

Answer: Gnome

After the Road Block, teams were instructed to drive to the town of Rumsiskes to find a Lithuanian museum known as Lietuvos Liaudies Buities Muziejus where their next cluebox would be outside a traditional Lithuanian village known as Dzukija. Here, teams were told to search this small area for one of seven Travelocity Roaming Gnomes (as depicted in their clue). Once teams found this, they needed to bring it with them to the Pit Stop to win a prize.

The catch? The village would also contain over one hundred other local gnomes.

After this, teams continued to the Detour.
4. In Leg 5, the 'Step Up' Detour task required which of these items?

Answer: Stilts

This is where teams found their Detour task, a choice between 'Count Down' and 'Step Up'. In 'Count Down', teams headed to the local festivities to a marked picket fence. They then needed to count every picket and state the amount (717) to the scorekeeper at the end to receive their next clue.

In 'Step Up', teams hopped onto a pair of stilts and followed a specific course to the end of the trail to receive their clue. If they fell, they'd need to restart. TK and Rachel, Ronald and Christina, and Nathan and Jennifer finished 'Step Up' while the other teams completed 'Count Down'.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 5 in Lithuania?

Answer: Shana and Jennifer

After the Detour, teams received the clue telling them to run to the next Pit Stop, the Aukstaitija Windmill located just outside the village. TK and Rachel, who finished the Detour task fairly quickly, ended up placing first and, with their Travelocity Roaming Gnome in tow, they won a trip for two to Japan. Shana and Jennifer, who battled for sixth with Nicolas and Donald, were unable to complete the Detour fast enough and became the fifth team eliminated from the race.
6. Heading to Dubrovnik, Croatia in Leg 6, all teams took the same flight.

Answer: False

In the beginning of Leg 6, in the middle of the night, teams were told to fly nine hundred miles from Vilnius, Lithuania to the city of Dubrovnik, Croatia in Southern Europe. All of the remaining teams made their way from Aukstaitija Windmill in the countryside of Lithuania to the airport and signed up for tickets on a couple of different flights landing that morning in the Croatian capital though the time in the airport leading to this was stressful for some of the teams who, hungry and exhausted, started to fight.

Some teams purchased the wrong tickets...others missed connections. It was a mess.
7. Which team member completed the Road block task at the Fort of St. Lawrence in Croatia?

Answer: Rachel

Arriving in Dubrovnik, teams made their way by taxi to their next cluebox at the base of the Fort of St. Lawrence. Here, teams chose members to complete a Road Block task in which they needed to take one of eight large stones in a pile of one hundred fifty and fit them into the stone walls of the Fort of St. Lawrence.

These stones had been broken off during the battles held during Croatia's War of Independence, and to mark the rebuilding effort, the member completing the Road Block had to place it in the correct one of the possible holes to get the next clue.
8. For the Detour task in Croatia in Leg 6, all teams chose the same task.

Answer: False

After the Road Block task, teams were told that they would need to perform a zipline from the top of the Fort of St. Lawrence over the Adriatic cliffs to the side of the nearby Fort Bokar. On the other side they would receive their Detour task, a choice between 'Short and Long' and 'Long and Short'.

While TK and Rachel and Kynt and Vyxsin completed 'Short and Long', the other four remaining teams completed the 'Long and Short' Detour option.
9. Which Detour task in Leg 6 (in Croatia) involved a zipline?

Answer: 'Long and Short'

In 'Short and Long', teams needed to begin by rappelling down the side of Fort Bokar. they would then need to climb back up the side of this imposing structure on a rope ladder then, at the top, run to a plaza in the Old Quarter to claim their clue. In 'Long and Short', teams instead ziplined to the water, found a platform, and took a marked boat around the fort to a marked dock where they could return to land and walk to their next clue at the same plaza (at a much closer vantage point). TK and Rachel and Kynt and Vyxsin completed 'Short and Long' while Ronald and Christina, Azaria and Hendekea, Nathan and Jennifer, and Nicolas and Donald completed 'Long and Short'.
10. Finishing up Leg 6, which team was eliminated in Croatia?

Answer: Azaria and Hendekea

After the Detour, teams made their way by taxi to the next Pit Stop, the Stone Cross overlooking the city of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea. The first team to arrive was Ronald and Christina who each won a catamaran for their first place victory. Unable to catch up to the other teams after the tasks around the city, Azaria and Hendekea, who up to that point had the best first place track record of any team still remaining, arrived in sixth and last place.

They were subsequently eliminated from the race.
