Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 3, teams made their way to Burkina Faso. Where did they begin this leg?

Answer: The Netherlands

In Leg 2, teams departed from the second Pit Stop in Durgerdam, The Netherlands, where their twelve-hour break had been held at the local yacht club. Clues informed teams that they would need to head directly to the airport to catch a flight to the city of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

After the three thousand mile flight to Ouagadougu, teams would need to hire a taxi to take them to the city's train station where their next route marker would be waiting. Due to a lack of flights and seats, teams were separated on a couple different planes to Paris where everyone boarded the same plane to Burkina Faso.
2. To which village in Burkina Faso did teams need to travel by train to reach in Leg 3?

Answer: Bingo

Upon reaching the train station, teams were told to purchase tickets to take them several miles to the stop known as Bingo, also known to some as Boulkiemde, which is located in the African Savannah. Teams disembarking in this location would literally be left at the side of the tracks as there was no specific station for the 'Bingo' area. Upon touching down at this spot they would need to search the area for their clue box. Because teams landed in the afternoon, the ticket office in Ouagadougou was closed and teams needed to spend the night on the streets in Burkina Faso. All teams took the same train.
3. During the Road Block task in Leg 3 (Burkina Faso), what did team members need to drink?

Answer: Camel milk

In this Road Block, team members needed to milk a camel and fill a bowl up to a marked line. If they were unable to fill their bowl to the adequate marker, they would need to wait for all other teams to finish milking before using one of theirs to complete the task.

After filling the bowl to this point, the chosen member also needed to drink the milk they received before collecting their next clue. TK, Donald, Christina, Nathan, Vyxsin, Azaria, Jennifer, Julia, and Lorena completed this task. After the Road Block, teams needed to collect four camels and transport them to a location down a marked path to get their next clue.
4. Teams choosing either 'Teach It' or 'Learn It' in the Leg 3 Detour task had to deal with how many words?

Answer: Ten

After leading the camels, teams were told to head to the Bingo Village School to complete a Detour task; their choice - 'Teach It' or 'Learn It'. In 'Teach It', teams needed to teach local children ten English words before receiving their clue. In 'Learn It', teams needed to learn ten words of the local More language to get the clue. TK and Rachel, Nicolas and Donald, Ronald and Christina, and Shana and Jennifer chose to 'Teach It' while the other five teams decided to 'Learn It'.
5. Which team was eliminated in Leg 3 in Burkina Faso?

Answer: Marianna and Julia

After the Detour task, teams were handed the clue informing them that they needed to make their way to the next Pit Stop nearby in the outskirts of Bingo. As a thunderstorm began to break out over the African Savannah, teams checked in with Azaria and Hendekea taking the first place prize (a trip to Bermuda care of Travelocity) and other teams coming up right behind them. Marianna and Julia were unable to find the Pit Stop quick enough during the storm and found themselves to be the third team to be eliminated from the race.
6. In Leg 4, teams received which of these items which needed to be brought with them to the Pit Stop?

Answer: Live chicken

Starting the leg, teams raced from their pit Stop location to a nearby village where the local chief gave each team of two a live chicken as a gift. In order to check into the Pit Stop at the end of the leg, teams needed to have the chicken in their possession. Following this meeting, teams were told to head 100 miles by taxi to a field in the village of Bouda-Pelegtanga where their next clue box would await their arrival.
7. In Leg 4 (in Burkina Faso), teams chose between 'Shake Your Pan' and what other Detour task?

Answer: 'Shake Your Booty'

Upon arriving in Bouda-Pelegtanga, teams found their Detour task, a choice between 'Shake Your Pan' and 'Shake Your Booty'. In 'Shake Your Pan', teams needed to go to a local mining pit and locate a marked area. Using traditional tools including a sifting pan, they needed to collect one ounce of gold from the piles of dirt before they could receive their next clue.

In 'Shake Your Booty', teams were told to head to a local area to learn a traditional dance, then they had to perform it and add their own moves for a panel of judges to receive their next clue. If this dance were not up to par, they would need to take a penalty of ten minutes before receiving their clue. Nicolas and Donald and TK and Rachel did the former task while the others took 'Shake Your Booty'.
8. Which team was the first to be U-Turned in the history of the show (as shown in Leg 4)?

Answer: Lorena and Jason

After completing the Detour task, teams were told to run to the nearby Pelegtanga Market to collect their next clue, but en route they would encounter the first twist of this season: the U-Turn. This device would force the selected team to go back and complete the other Detour selection which they did not select. Because Shana and Jennifer used this opportunity presented to them, they kept Lorena and Jason from catching up and the selected team was forced to go back and finish 'Shake Your Pan'.

The other teams headed back to Ouagadougou for their next clue. After the introduction of this race mechanic, the Yield was effectively retired having been used in the prior six seasons.
9. Which team member completed the delivery Road Block in Leg 4?

Answer: Vyxsin

Teams advanced to the Tampouy Goat Market in Ouagadougou to find their Road Block task which required that one member of each team use a bicycle to travel through the area to deliver a number of large items (including a live goat) to a single destination.

Although difficult to manage, team members only needed to find the one stop with the help of locals. Azaria, Jennifer, Vyxsin, Nicolas, Christina, Rachel, Shana, and Jason completed this Road Block and received the next clue leading to the Pit Stop.
10. Which team was eliminated in Leg 4 in Burkina Faso?

Answer: Lorena and Jason

After the Road Block, teams made their way to the Hotel de Ville in Ouagadougou, the fourth Pit Stop in their race around the world. Having performed well once more, Azaria and Hendekea continued their first-place streak with another win. They each won a Yamaha motor scooter for their victory. Lorena and Jason, who tackled the first U-Turn of "The Amazing Race", could not recover from their setback and became the fourth team to be eliminated from the race leaving only seven teams remaining.
