Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Name the last mammal to ever live on Earth, as per "The Future is Wild".

Answer: Poggle

The poggle is a rodent that is farmed by silver spiders. They eat the seeds harvested by silver spiders and when the time is right the silver spiders will kill the poggle and eat it.
2. How do carakillers primarily communicate?

Answer: Lifting and waving their crests

Dancing is a before-mating thing and is not really used that often for communication. Screeches would be good except carakillers are loud animals and can easily be heard by their prey. Nodding is one movement and cannot really be used as a whole language, leaving the final answer of lifting and waving their crests.
3. What type of acid do terabytes use?

Answer: Hydrochloric acid

Terabytes, futuristic termites, use a concentrated form of hydrochloric acid to do the things they need a corrosive for.
4. Slickribbons can shoot out their jaws. What is the other animal that can do something that resembles this?

Answer: Ocean Flish

The ocean flish is literally a flying fish. Evolving from the present day cod, it can extend its jaws outward when it is catching silverswimmers.
5. How do gannetwhales get rid of a snowstalker?

Answer: Vomiting

They vomit partially digested fish, more than enough putrid smell to get rid of a snowstalker.
6. Why do shagrats travel in herds?

Answer: To confuse predators

When a predator comes, shagrats will form a circular formation to confuse the predator.
7. What does a megasquid eats?

Answer: Both of these

The megasquid has no predators (although both the squibbon and the silthersucker are quite an annoyance). Squibbons repel the megasquid by throwing fruit at it and silthersuckers actually want to be eaten by the megasquid since it is their way of transportation.
8. Which of these animals in "The Future is Wild" does not use bioluminescence?

Answer: Greater Blue Windrunner

This is a trick question - the deathbottle doesn't use bioluminescence but it is a plant and not an animal.
9. What does a cryptile catch flies with?

Answer: Its frill

A cryptile, a small frilled lizard, has a sticky substance on its frill which it uses to catch brine flies.
10. Name the drawback of the rainbow squid using colour and bioluminescence to attract prey.

Answer: Predators can see it easily

The reason is that predators can spot it easily. It does require a fair bit of brain power but the rainbow squid has that so it isn't a problem. If it needed too many organs then it probably wouldn't even have evolved that way.
