Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In order of appearance, who are the first 5 people that we see in the beginning of "The Moth"?

Answer: Charlie, Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer

The scene opens as Charlie is playing his guitar. Moments later, Locke arrives and he and Charlie talk briefly. The scene switches to the beach where Jack is looking at something and we see that it is Kate's mug shot. Kate appears suddenly and tells Jack that she has much better pictures than those and the two talk briefly before Sawyer shows up to claim Jack's shelter which Jack is abandoning for the shelter of the caves.
2. In "The Moth" we learn Charlie's brother's name, what is it?

Answer: Liam

We learn this from Charlie's flash back. Charlie sees his brother with his feet up on the church pews as he exits the confessional. Charlie calls him Liam as he approaches him to tell him to put his feet down because they're in a church.
3. What drug does Charlie try to take from Jack's bag in the episode "The Moth"?

Answer: Diazepam

Charlie accidentally spills the contents of Jack's suitcase and is eyeing the drugs as he's picking them up. He seems to have found one he likes when Jack asks him what he's doing. Charlie says that he has a headache and was looking for Aspirin. Jack takes the bottle from him and reads the label before telling Charlie that "Diazepam is pretty strong stuff for a headache."
4. During a scene from "The Moth", when Sun and Jin are by the waterfall, Jin notices that Sun is wearing a thin, exposing tank top. He tells her it is indecent and that she needs to put something else on. Sun doesn't want to so she gives him what excuse for not covering up?

Answer: It is too hot to wear anything else

Sun gets up and leaves and Jin is shocked that she didn't immediately obey his order.
5. In "The Moth", Locke shows Charlie a cocoon hanging from a tree and asks Charlie what he thinks might be inside it. What does Charlie say?

Answer: A butterfly

Charlie doesn't know what's in the cocoon and guesses that it might be a butterfly. Locke explains to Charlie that it's actually a moth and that it has to break out of its cocoon in order to become strong. Locke says that he could use his knife to slice a hole in the cocoon to help the moth get out but that then the moth would die because it's the actual struggle to come out that makes it strong.
6. In "The Moth", Sayid is attempting to locate from where the signal that is being broadcast on the island is coming. He enlists the help of Boone and Kate who will fire bottle rockets when they are in position. At what time do they all have to begin firing their bottle rockets?

Answer: 5:00 p.m.

Sayid's plan was that he would fire his rocket at exactly five p.m. Boone would fire his immediately after he saw Sayid's rocket and Kate would fire her rocket after she saw Sayid's and Boone's rockets. At that point they would all be in position and Sayid could use the transceiver to triangulate the signal and locate where it's coming from.
7. At the end of "The Moth", what excuse does Jack give Hurley for how sick Charlie looks?

Answer: That he has the flu

Jack and Charlie are sitting by the fire as Charlie is beginning to show signs of severe withdrawal. Hurley notices that Charlie is shaking and has the sweats so he tells Charlie that he doesn't look too good. Jack tells Hurley that Charlie has the flu and Hurley feels bad that Charlie would get sick after everything he'd already been through.
8. At the beginning of "Confidence Man", what is Kate carrying when she comes across Sawyer's book on the beach?

Answer: Bananas

Kate is walking along the shoreline carrying a big load of bananas over her shoulder when she comes across Sawyer's belongings. She picks up the book just as Sawyer pops up from out of the water and says that it's a good book.
9. At the end of "The Moth" we see Sayid get hit on the head by an unidentified person. At the beginning of "Confidence Man", Jack is cleaning out the wound that the blow produced on Sayid's head. What is Jack using to disinfect the wound?

Answer: Peroxide

Jack is holding a bottle of hydrogen peroxide as he cleans out Sayid's wound with a cotton ball. We can see the label on the bottle as Jack tells Sayid that it's going to hurt.
10. In "Confidence Man", what is the name of the book that Sawyer is reading that Boone says belongs to him?

Answer: Watership Down

Boone assumes that Sawyer stole the book that he had checked with his luggage before the crash so he figures that Sawyer also took his sister's asthma inhalers.
11. In "Confidence Man", when Sawyer is scamming Jessica, what city does he say he's found an investor in to go 50/50 with him in an oil investment deal?

Answer: Toronto

Jessica believes Sawyer's story and instead offers to kick in $160,000 of her husband's money to get into the deal with Sawyer.
12. In "Confidence Man", Locke tells Sayid that anybody who watches television knows how to improvise a slow fuse. What example does he give Sayid on how to do this?

Answer: Use a cigarette

Sayid is asking around to find out who may have knocked him out. He approaches Locke and asks him his whereabouts when the head bashing incident occurred. Locke says he has no witnesses to where he was but that he figured that Sawyer had done it. When Sayid tells him that Sawyer was firing a rocket far away from him and therefore has an alibi, Locke tells him that Sawyer could have improvised a slow fuse and made it all the way back to knock out Sayid.
13. In "Confidence Man", Sawyer has a flashback to the meeting with Jessica's husband in which he tells him about the deal. What kind of business does Sawyer say that Jessica's husband owns?

Answer: A lumber yard

The trio is having lunch at a nice restaurant as Sawyer pitches his investment opportunity to Dave, Jessica's husband. Dave is, of course, skeptical and Sawyer understands, telling Dave that he has his lumber yard to run and doesn't need any other worries. Sawyer offers to leave the $140,000 with Dave to ease his mind.
14. In "Confidence Man", Claire claims to be the only Australian who loves what?

Answer: Peanut butter

Claire and Charlie are talking about all the things they miss about being in civilization and Charlie keeps saying he misses different types of food. When Claire questions him about only missing food, Charlie asks how a pregnant girl doesn't crave food. Claire then makes her claim as the only Australian who loves peanut butter.
15. Throughout the episode "Confidence Man", Sawyer and Jack have several conversations and altercations. During said unpleasant exchanges between the two, Sawyer calls Jack by three different nicknames. What are they?

Answer: Doc, Cowboy, Chico

Sawyer calls Jack 'Doc' at the beginning of the episode when Jack comes to talk to him about beating up Boone. Later, Jack and Sawyer are by the waterfall when Jack demands the inhalers. Sawyer calls him 'Cowboy' right before Jack punches him for first time. Several scenes later, Sawyer calls Jack 'Chico' after Jack and Sayid have tied him to a tree and are going to torture him.
