Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Major Gowan, Miss Tibbs and Polly Sherman

Answer: Fawlty Towers

The timeless classic that is "Fawlty Towers" was first broadcast between 1975 and 1979, and the wonderful writing of John Cleese and his then wife, Connie Booth means that it will remain loved for many years to come.
Booth also starred as waitress Polly Sherman, while the cricket loving, slightly eccentric, resident of the hotel Major Gowan was played brilliantly by Ballard Berkeley.
Also a hotel resident was Miss Tibbs who was always seen in the company of her friend, Miss Gatsby, played by Gilly Flower and Renee Roberts respectively.
2. Tanya Turner, Kyle Pascoe and Hazel Bailey

Answer: Footballers' Wives

"Footballer's Wives" was a show that ITV broadcast between 2002 and 2006 which revolved around the lives of the wives and girlfriends of fictitious football club, Earls Park.
The show was supposedly based on the book, "Footballers' Wives Tell Their Tales" by Shelley Webb, the wife of former England international Neil Webb, but while her book told of the frequent house moves when a husband is transferred and football groupies who will give a husband their phone number, the show dealt with countless affairs and love triangles, not to mention child kidnapping, murders and rape.
Zoe Lucker played Tanya Turner, Gary Lucy played Kyle Pascoe and Alison Newman played Hazel Bailey in this show which also saw guest appearances from several celebrities including Sol Campbell, Teddy Sheringham and David Seaman.
3. Betty Simpson, Kelly Chadwick and Jamie Rymer

Answer: Fat Friends

"Fat Friends" ran for four seasons between 2000 and 2005 and was centred on a slimming group in Leeds and the lives of its members. While the show was a great success, it also was the first time that four future stars of the hit show, "Gavin And Stacey" (2007-2008) would work together, with Alison Steadman (Pam Shipman in "Gavin And Stacey") playing Betty Simpson, Ruth Jones (Nessa in "Gavin And Stacey") playing her daughter Kelly Chadwick, James Corden (Smithy in "Gavin And Stacey") playing Jamie Ryder and Sheridan Smith (Rudi Smith in "Gavin And Stacey") playing Sharon Wormersley in two episodes of the show. "Fat Friends" has also been adapted into a stage musical which has attracted rave reviews during its run.
4. Sonia Barrett, Guy Penrose and Hester Fields

Answer: Fresh Fields

A second appearance in this quiz for the great Ballard Berkeley, best known as Major Gowan from "Fawlty Towers", as he played the part of Guy Penrose, constantly trying to win back the affections of his ex wife Nancy, who lived in the granny flat attached to the Fields' house.
The Fields were played by Anton Rodgers (William Fields) and Julia McKenzie (Hester Fields) and much of the show revolved around their very different ideas on how to spend their free time, William preferring to relax, while Hester had a new hobby almost every week.
Neighbour, Sonia Barrett, who would often let herself into the Fields' house with a cry of, "It's only Sonia" was played by Ann Beach, who would later play Hugh Grant's mother in the 1999 movie, "Notting Hill".
Although "Fresh Fields" ended in 1986, it returned in 1989, titled "French Fields", with the couple having moved to France, and trying to adapt to a new way of life.
5. Adam Goodman, Jim Bell and Jackie Goodman

Answer: Friday Night Dinner

With a stellar comedic cast, including Mark Heap, known for his role in TV show "Green Wing" (2004-07) as Jim Bell, Tamsin Grieg, Fran Katzenjammer from "Black Books" (2000-04), playing Jackie Goodman and Simon Bird, well remembered for being Will McKenzie in "The Inbetweeners" (2008-10) as her son Adam, how could this show be anything but a hit?
"Friday Night Dinner" began airing in 2011 and concerns the Goodman family and their regular Friday night meal, for which both grown up sons return home each week.
Needless to say, not a single meal has passed without incident and often much hilarity, caused either by the sons playing jokes on each other, or by the regular visits of neighbour Jim Bell and his dog, of which he is afraid.
6. Elvis Cridlington, Penny Morris and Bella Lasagne

Answer: Fireman Sam

"Fireman Sam" is a long running gem in the children's TV schedule in UK, first airing in 1987 on BBC and since 2008, on Channel 5.
Elvis Cridlington and Penny Morris both work as firefighters alongside Sam, while Bella Lasagne is the owner of the Italian cafe in the fictional village of Pontypandy, the same cafe that has been the scene of fire drills, lost cat hunts, chip pan fires and even a bird's nest in the oven.
There is never a dull moment for this team of Welsh firefighters.
7. "Bus Rodent", "Hot Misogynist" and Claire

Answer: Fleabag

"Fleabag" (2016-2019) attracted high praise from TV critics and very respectable viewing figures as well as winning several awards during its two season run.
Fleabag is the title by which the main character is known, her actual name never being revealed, and Claire, played by Sian Clifford is Fleabag's sister.
During the course of her extremely active sex life, Fleabag dates both Bus Rodent, played by Jamie Demetriou and Hot Misogynist, played by Ray Fearon.
8. Dr Tommy Ramsey, Detective Inspector Brook and Isabel Palmer

Answer: Floodtide

"Floodtide" aired for two seasons from 1987 to 1988, and opened with a British MP dying from a heart attack after taking cocaine.
The series then followed the journey of Dr Tommy Ramsey, played by Philip Sayer, as he attempted, with the assistance of the police, to track down the drugs smugglers and bring them to justice.
Detective Inspector Brook was played by John Benfield and Connie Booth, better known as Polly Sherman from "Fawlty Towers" (1975-79) played Isabel Palmer.
"Floodtide" was quite a successful show, enjoyed by viewers, but was cancelled after two seasons following the untimely death of Sayer from cancer, aged just 42.
9. Ian Hargrave, Andy Peat and Dr Zoe Evans

Answer: Frankie

Eve Myles played the part of the eponymous Frankie in this show from 2013 that centred on the life of a district nurse in Bristol.
Her boyfriend, Ian Hargreave, who often found their relationship taking a back seat to Frankie's work demands was played by Dean Lennox Kelly, who had gained recognition for playing Kev Ball in "Shameless" (2004-2013) and Derek Riddell played Andy Peat, also a district nurse and a former army medic.
Dr Zoe Evans, a partner in the Community Nurse's Office was played by Jemma Redgrave, of the famous Redgrave family of actors which includes Sir Michael Redgrave, Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson.
10. Mary O'Leary, Jack Hackett and Mrs Doyle

Answer: Father Ted

One of my personal favourites, "Father Ted" (1995-1998) was about three priests living on the remote Craggy Island off the coast of Ireland.
Parishioner Mary O'Leary, who along with her husband John acted as part of a loving relationship in front of the priests, while devising ways to kill her husband, was played by Rynagh O'Grady, while Mrs Doyle, housekeeper to the trio of priests was played by the brilliant Pauline McLynn, and was forever offering cups of tea, "Ah go on, you will, you will, you will."
Elder statesman among the priests was Father Jack Hackett played by Frank Doyle, known for his lechery and alcohol intake, more than his religious teachings.
A true classic of UK TV.
