Wearing the Croc Cap has some surprising benefits; guard dogs will not always approach Naked Snake, if submerged in water he will be mistaken for a crocodile, if peeking round a corner when wearing the cap you are spotted by a guard, the guard will run away in terror thinking Naked Snake to be a real crocodile and it can also be used during The End's boss battle to get him to think you are a crocodile and temporarily focus elsewhere.

By touching The Sorrow's body in the (debatable) boss fight against him, you are awarded with his Spirit camouflage. Playing the game non-lethally makes getting through the boss fight easy and therefore easy to touch his body, but killing many soldiers will put them in your path.

It eliminates footstep noise which is an important element in being stealthy as it allows you to run past enemies rather than proceed slowly. Becoming invisible falls to the Stealth Camouflage, none allows the draining of health and stamina and the Moss camouflage allows the player to photosynthesise.

Although Colonel Campbell is a character in the "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake", "Metal Gear Solid" and is impersonated in "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty", he can be heard in this game. You achieve this by causing a time paradox by killing either Ocelot, EVA or Sokolov. He is the voice that questions the player/Naked Snake on what they have done by causing the paradox.

Although unlimited ammo can be achieved for any weapon using the Infinity Face Camo, The Patriot can be acquired before that and always has unlimited ammo anyway. Calling SIGINT on the codec with it equipped results in a conversation about this. Naked Snake comments on the unlimited ammo, SIGINT replies it's because the barrel is shaped like the infinity symbol, to which Naked Snake agrees.

Throwing the Tsuchinoko at Volgin will serve to do nothing except ruin your chances of getting the Infinity Face Paint at the end of the game. The others, however, are viable options. Throwing a tree frog will cause Volgin to back away, then attack it whilst saying "Kuwabara, kuwabara" a Japanese word pertaining to the Chinese legend whereby a Mulberry bush can't be struck by lightning. Shooting the pipes will release water, which he is weak to and can be discovered by interrogating Raikov. Wearing the "Raikov" mask will make Volgin fall to his knees and remark "Ivan..?" allowing you to attack him.

This can only be done once and makes Volgin attack more frequently afterwards.
