Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The Larkinor Quest" is what type of game?

Answer: Text-based

"The Larkinor Quest", although a text-based game, is not totally without images - there are some illustrations of ennemies, buildings and landscapes, but there is only one animated graphic in the whole game. The interface of the game is designed to let experienced players play extremely fast - important information in sentences is colour-coded and always displayed in the same place, so an experienced player need only glance for a split-second at the screen to take in all that has happened. The game takes place on an island called Larkinor - later on in the game players can buy a boat and explore a second island.
2. The game's system has a unique concept, "clicks", the amount of times that you can perform an action with a certain character. How many clicks do non-subscribers get every day?

Answer: 400 + 5 x character level (max 500)

Non-subs can get up to 500 clicks a day per character. Later on in the game, extra clicks can be earned by wearing special boots. Subscribers gain 800 base clicks, plus 1 extra click per character level. There is no limit to how many clicks subscribers can get per day, although there is a level limit in the English version (lvl 100). Clicks are also collectable, you don't need to play them on the very same day. Non-subs can collect up to 5,000 clicks, whereas subscribers can collect up to 25,000.
3. How many characters can you create per account?

Answer: Four

Each character is different, and unrelated to the others, although many people use some of their accounts to get money, and transfer the money to the other characters through the market. In "The Larkinor Quest" this is not against the rules!
You may also see people with five or six characters. These people have been playing for a very long time, the limit for characters used to be six.
4. What plug-in do you need to use the chat feature?

Answer: Java

Creating your own channel, personal messages (PM's), and smilies are supported by it.
If you are a subscriber, the text colour that you write in is blue, if you are not, it is white. You may also see some rare orange writing - that means that you have got to behave yourself, a moderator is in chat!
Subscribers can create channels with personalized names, and passwords (so that only selected people have access), have a little star beside their names, and have a very nifty brb (be right back) button.
5. Which of these can non-subscribers do?

Answer: Steal from the drop-down menu

Stealing from the drop-down menu requires no subscription, and is very profitable on the second island. You need a subscription to steal from other players though.
Note that in "The Larkinor Quest", "robbing" and "stealing" are two totally different things, you "rob" somebody's house, and "steal" from somebody's backpack.
The Sherpa banking system is a system that allows you to ferry money between the bank and the market, and is for subscribers only.
6. Which isn't a possible character class?

Answer: Diplomat

Diggers are characters usually just made to earn money. They have lots of luck, but are absolutely rubbish at fighting.
Mages use magic to fight. They are usually very effective in the arena, but extremely difficult to correctly "raise" - some players also find them boring.
Robbers... rob people's houses. Robbing is for subscribers only.
7. What is the second island in the game called?

Answer: Thord-Artin

Thord-Artin is an island filled with an army of hostile monsters. These monsters are being "cleared" by players, the buildings re-built, and monsters from the Larkinor island brought across the seas and re-populated. "Clearing" Thord-Artin requires a full team effort, almost all long-term Larkinor players slow work away at the monsters there...
8. What is the name of the company that owns the English version of the game?

Answer: FlyorDie

Flyordie bought the code from One Bit Heroes (the developers of the Hungarian (original) game) when OBH were tired of updating the English version. Flyordie also has several other online, multiplayer games, like chess and checkers, as well as several downloadable ones.
9. What item do you get when you pay off the king?

Answer: Antiballast

You have to pay the king 1,000,000 silvers to be considered a citizen. In return, he will give you an antiballast that lets you carry 20 more kilograms of items in your backpack, and freedom to leave the island. Note that to actually leave the island for the second one, you need a boat, which costs a furthur 5,000,000 silvers. The antiballast can be lost, so be careful - when you lose it, you also lose your citizen's privileges!
An antigrav thingy is a very valuable (but untradeable) item that also lets you carry 0.1kg more in your pack.
An antimatter club is a special club to be used in a mission.
An antifeeler is an ingredient for certain weapons.
10. What is Grunden's Winecellar?

Answer: A king's mission

Grunden's Winecellar is the very first king's mission.
King's missions can be started by talking to the king in his palace, there are currently just over fifty over them (more are being translated from Hungarian). After every king's mission you get an Imp's Mushroom which, once eaten, lets you give one more attribute point to your character. There are also other rewards for missions, but these are usually more common items, like silvers, and weapon ingredients.
Pub missions are to be started by buying a drink in the pub, but there are only two2 of them for non-subscribers.
