Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There is only one major town in Swamp of Sorrows. What is its name?

Answer: Stonard

Stonard is strictly a Horde town, and quite the important one. Because many of the nearby zones are Alliance-centric (for example, Darkshire, Westfall, Redridge Mountains, Elwynn Forest, etc.), Stonard is a fairly large Horde locale, so much so that you can actually learn to teleport or portal into it as a Horde character.

There are numerous merchants, questgivers, and trainers, a flightpath location, and an inn within the town's walls. No matter which direction you head out of Stonard, you walk into the swamp.
2. Where does the Mire Lord make its home?

Answer: Misty Valley

Mire Lord is a boss that needs to be defeated by Horde players completing quests in the Swamp of Sorrows. At level 42, Mire Lord is one of the higher-level creatures in the zone, but he's not too difficult as he's not elite. Other creatures, like Swampwalkers, can be found in Misty valley as well. You can reach it by heading northwest in the zone.
The Noxious Glade is a location in the Eastern Plaguelands, the Talondeep Path is a location in both Stonetalon Mountains and Ashenvale, and Noonshade Ruins is in Tanaris.
3. The Harborage is which of these?

Answer: Friendly outpost

The Harborage is in the north end of Swamp of Sorrows directly east of Misty Valley. If you follow the path east from the entrance of Swamp of Sorrows and take the fork in the road to the left, you'll see the Harborage on your left. The small outpost is run by Draenei and contains a couple different quests.

There is only one trader (a leatherworker) found here. Other than this, players are unlikely to visit whether they're Horde or Alliance (though both are able to; it's a neutral area).
4. Spiders can be found wandering which region of the Swamp of Sorrows?

Answer: Stagalbog

Stagalbog is in the southeast corner of the zone and the most of what you'll find there is Deathstrike Tarantulas. These level 40-ish creatures have the the ability to poison those without resistances or who have a low level. A cave found in this region, Stagalbog Cave, is home to a number of in-land Marsh Murlocs and their leader, the level 50 Murloc known as Swamp Talker.

This cave can be found along the southern cliffs of the zone guarded by Murlocs in the level 43-45 range.
5. Fallow Sanctuary contains a tribe of Draenei of which type?

Answer: Lost Ones

The Lost Ones are a group of mid-level 30 monsters that are hostile to any traveler wandering into the area. Densely populated, this small area is at the end of the path running north along the cliffsides in Swamp of Sorrows. The enemies here range from Lost One Fisherman to the lumbering Cursed Lost Ones.

While the Lost Ones are Draenei, they are highly devolved forms of this otherwise advanced race. There is more than one unique monster to be found here, but none are elite, so questing should go smoothly if need-be.
6. The entire length of shoreline in Swamp of Sorrows is which of these?

Answer: Misty Reed Strand

The waterfront stretches down the entire eastern border of the zone and at any point you step on the sand, you'll have the place 'discovered'. While Murlocs in the level 45 area will be situated in makeshift coastal camps, players can also find Sawtooth Snappers, crocolisks, patrolling the north and south parts of the coast.

These are usually around level 40. Other than gathering and questing, the coast is fairly empty of purpose. There are no docks and other nearby zones can not be accessed from its edges due to high cliffs.
7. Where is the Swamp of Sorrows?

Answer: Southern Eastern Kingdoms

On the southeastern coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, the Swamp of Sorrows is a boggy zone mainly for Horde characters. Despite the barrenness of other nearby zones, the swamp is pretty much waterlogged with its 'Pool of Tears' being one of the larger bodies of water in the southern half of the continent.

The Swamp of Sorrows does not require an expansion pack to be visited and players can fight enemies from level 35-45 within.
8. The area around Itharius's Cave contains what colour of Dragonflight offspring?

Answer: Green

While mid-level 40 Whelps can be found circling the cave, the Itharius region of the Swamp of Sorrows, in the southwestern corner of the map, is important to the Dragonflight portions of the game. Green Dragonflight representative, Itharius, can be found inside and his two quests inevitably take the player to Winterspring and other locations in extensive quest chains. Green Dragonflight are also commonly seen around portal areas like Dream Bough and Seradane, but these are in other zones (the closest being Darkshire).
9. The Swamp of Sorrows connects to two zones. Which of these is one of them?

Answer: Blasted Lands

The Swamp of Sorrows is in the southeast of the Eastern Kingdoms near the bottom corner. Only two zones connect to it: Blasted Lands to the south and Deadwind Pass (a very small zone) to the west. Both are higher-level zones though the only way to walk to the Swamp of Sorrows is using Deadman's Crossing in Deadwind Pass. Both of these adjacent zones are neutral locations and important to the "Burning Crusade" expansion.

In addition, both revolve around players nearing or passing level 60 while Swamp of Sorrows enemies range from level 35 to 45.
10. Temple of Atal'Hakkar is the only instance in the Swamp of Sorrows.

Answer: True

The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, typically regarded as the Sunken Temple, is a mostly-submerged instance dungeon found in the center of the Swamp of Sorrows. Players heading into the dungeon are usually between level 45 and 55, and quests can be attained from many different locations around the game (even on the other continent in some cases).

Many Green Dragonflight bosses rest here, and players will need to defeat the Avatar of Hakkar to receive the achievement for the dungeon.
