Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. These fiery creatures are long and thin. Leaping out of the sea of lava, they emit a low moaning sound. What is their name?

Answer: Lava Ghosts

Unable to be defeated by eggs, stomping, and tongue-licking, all you can do is dodge their bodies before they land on you and scorch you. These flaming entities can be found in "Blargg's Boiler".
2. These little guys try to swim right into the Yoshis' path, attempting to both block the Yoshis' progress and to hurt them as well, but they present barely any threat and can be slurped up easily. Who are they?

Answer: Cheep Cheeps

When eaten, they give you one egg, and increase your Smile Meter by two. Pink and red Yoshis find these small fry a delicacy.
3. This aquatic creatures, even though they're deadly, can be helpful. If you are low on health just lap up a few and your Smile Meter will be full in no time. Also, their skin color is purple and blue. Which of the following is their correct name?

Answer: Mr. Eel

They swim in a straight line so they are simple to avoid unless you are in an enclosed space. They can be found swimming around in "Jungle Puddle" and in "Lots o' Fish" on Page 5.
4. While you are climbing the "Tall Tower" you will run into flocks of these yellow small round birds that will attempt to send the baby Yoshis back down to the tower's base. What are they?

Answer: Peepers

Probably the most bothersome foes you will find in the book. If eaten you will recieve an egg but if these pests dive-bombed your head so many times you're almost dead, just throw an egg right in front of their beaks. Those feathered fiends will become Chicken McNuggets that will refill your Smile Meter when swallowed.
5. They run. They fly. They hop on pogo sticks. They walk on stilts. They throw snowballs. They ride pirate ships and submarines. They drop weights on your head. They do all this and more to keep you from reaching Baby Bowser and also to make sure that the Yoshi's journey is as unhappy as possible. Who are they?

Answer: Shy Guys

Besides what's listed above, Shy Guys also try to trip up the Yoshis with limbo sticks and push flaming torches. They come in diffrent colours, red, blue, green, yellow, black, and white (white Shy Guys are actually helpful - if you find one and take him with you until the end of the level, in the Yoshi Select screen, if you are missing any Yoshis, the white Shy Guy will rescue one of them for you), and if you eat a Shy Guy that is of the same colour, you will gain more points.
6. These chubby foes are HIGHLY territorial. If anyone, and Yoshis are no exeption, intrudes on their turf, they keep pushing until whoever trespassed runs away or falls off a cliff (they don't care either way). What is the name of these real pushovers?

Answer: Bumptys

Shoving you over a cliff is the only real threat these guys possess. Not ones to be pushed around, light blue Yoshis gobble them up faster than you can say "Quit shoving!"
7. Towering high above the Yoshis' heads, these feisty flora are impossible to pass. The only way to get by is to bean them on their own head and watch them tumble over like Jack's beanstalk. What is their name?

Answer: Piranha Plants

Out of the three piranha plant (titan piranha doesn't exist), the piranha plant is the only one who won't try to gobble you up. They, and the rest of the piranha family, can only be found in the appropriately named "Piranha Grove".
8. These enemies seem to have a "ball" doing what they do. They come running out of little chutes, drop onto the floor, and then roll at high speeds towards the young heroes. What's their name?

Answer: Spiked Fun Guys

Despite their name, these guys are anything but fun for the Yoshis. On a happier note the Spiked Fun Guys' spiny bodies are no match for the Yoshi's stomachs of steel; eggs are also a good arsenal to have when battling them. They can be located in the "Jelly Pipe" and the "Torrential Maze".
9. These colourful meanies careen off the walls of Bowser's "Magma Castle". The Yoshi's have to be quick-footed to avoid getting squashed by them. What is their name?

Answer: Attacky Sacks

With the grin of a crocodile, these menacing balls bounce slowly, so they are easy to bypass. As soon as they reach for the ceiling, run like crazy and you'll reach the other side before the Attacky Sacks even have a chance to make Yoshi patties out of you.
10. This friendly helper will aid the Yoshis in their search for buried treasure. You'll always find him standing by a hidden melon, coins or secret steps that lead to a Special Heart. Who is the Yoshis' best friend?

Answer: Poochy

Poochy can be very useful if you're trying to complete the level with a high score under your belt. He can also help you find your way in "Poochy & Nippy" and in assisting with the process of unlocking new worlds.
11. While wading through "Jungle Puddle", the Yoshis stumble across this monstrous fish's territory. He is not fond of intruders unless they are the kind he can eat. To see if Yoshis ARE that kind of intruder, he will leap up out of the water and attempt to swallow them in one gulp. Who is this peckish piscine?

Answer: Red Blurp

This guy can be a real hassle when trying to collect all the melons. There is nothing you can do except be light on your feet and keen-eyed.
12. Possibly the yummiest enemy the Yoshis will come across, she attacks by jumping on top of the dinos' heads. The smaller she gets (from being eaten by the Yoshis), the higher and farther she can leap. What is her name?

Answer: Cloud N. Candy

Cloud N. Candy is part of a gang who call themselves "Midstory Meanies". She looms above the Yoshis in the level "Cloud Cruising".
13. Oozing their way up and down the ropes that Yoshis use to move across bottomless pits, these guys are impervious to anything the little dinos throw at them. What is their name?

Answer: Vine Slime

These squishy invertibrates impede the way to the one and only black Yoshi egg. They can be found slithering around the "Torrential Maze".
14. These etheral beings copy every move the Yoshis do, but in reverse. They move left when the Yoshis move right, and so on. What is the name of the copycat ghosts?

Answer: Big & Little Boos

To move them out of the way (attacks have no effect) just look down and the Boos will float to the ceiling. They are instantly recognizable because of their blue mouths. Unlike other Boos which haunt Bowser's castle, Big & Little Boos can only be found in the "Jelly Pipe".
15. While other insects are hibernating, these bugs can be found alive and kicking in the snowy region of "Frustration". What kind of insects are they?

Answer: Centipedes

Centipedes (in this game) have hard, spiny bodies, so it would be inadvisable to stomp on them and eggs would be rendered useless. Also, they are too big to fit in the Yoshis' bellies. All you can do is leap over them when they gallop right towards you.
16. Shot out of cannons, these hard-headed meanies make a bee-line for the baby Yoshis. Although they look formidable, they can be eaten and turned into eggs and health, shot out of the sky, and stomped on. What are they called?

Answer: Bullet Bills

Although it's easy to get rid of Bullet Bills, it can be hard to avoid the cannons. In "Shy Guy's Ship", at a couple points you'll find yourself high in the sky with nothing but cannons (some of them follow the Yoshis' movements and then fire), a few clouds or blocks to rest on, and your bravery. Bullet Bills can also be found in "Tower Climb".
17. This is the only enemy that can change colours of its own free will. When it's one colour, it's okay to eat, but when it's the other colour, it's poisonous. Do you recall its correct name?

Answer: Tehee Butterfly

If red and pink Yoshis time their tongues right, and eat a Tehee Butterfly when it's pink, they'll swallow a delectable morsel that will earn them one egg and health. But if you want to be more careful, put an end to their giggles and shoot them out of the sky (stomping works good too). They can be found buzzing around "Tower Climb" and "Jelly Pipe".
18. Hatching out of spores, these flora make little noises as they walk toward the young Yoshis. But they're not wanting to be fed BY them, they want to EAT the Yoshis! What is the name of these pesky plants?

Answer: Nipper Plants

While Nipper Plants are yummy, their spores are DEFINITLY not! They can be located growing inside "Bone Dragon Pit" (how they can grow inside a deep, dark cave is anyone's guess).
19. Light and dark blue Yoshis are the only ones that find these insects potable. Everyone else will fall ill. They come floating down on tiny leaves. Which of these is the right name?

Answer: Ick Worms

These are indigenous only to "Neuron Jungle". Ick Worms can be killed by other Yoshis by hurling eggs or stomping on their oversized heads.
20. He may be scary, but he is very helpful. He will ferry the Yoshis on his back across lava and amidst the clouds. Technically, he doesn't have a name, so instead can you tell me what he is?

Answer: Dragon

The dragon transports you twice in "Cloud Cruising" and once in "Magma Castle". The third time is a bit tricky because you must jump onto each arch that his back makes above the molten rock as he swims through it.
21. This aquatic creatures do not harm you directly, but they shoot out streams of water that send the Yoshis skyward toward more spiny enemies. Just time your crossings and all they'll be blowing is hot air. What is their name?

Answer: Clams

These crustaceans are located in the level "Lots o' Fish". Clams can be annoying, but they are simple to avoid.
22. This is the only enemy that can blend in with his surroundings. The only way to hurt him is to keep a sharp look-out for a shimmer in the background and fire an egg at him. Who is he?

Answer: Inviso

Luckily, there are plenty of Peepers who will refill your ammo when you're out. Inviso, like Cloud N. Candy, is also one of the "Midstory Meanies". He is fought at the very top of the "Tall Tower".
23. Slimy, disgusting, and rather easy to beat. Those words perfectly describe these slow-moving creatures. They are always encountered in a circular cave. All you have to do is perch yourself in the centre of the room and throw an egg right in front of their eyes (don't hit them directly) and watch the sparks fly. The enemies will be defeated after this is repeated twice moreand they will relinquish a Special Heart or a key. What is their name.

Answer: Slugs

You will recieve the Special Heart when you encounter the first slug in the "Jelly Pipe". After you duke it out with two slugs oozing around Bowser's "Magma Castle", they will give up a key which will unlock a door in the fortress.
24. These water-dwelling meanies also come in two different colours. Blue ones just bob up and down while the red ones chase after the baby dinos. Sometimes fruit not quite digested can be found in them (yep, Yoshis will eat anything). What are these enemies called?

Answer: Jellyfish

Not surprisingly, Jellyfish can be found floating in the level "Lots o' Jellyfish".Since there's no way to get rid of them and they can move through walls, Jellyfish can be pretty annoying. All the Yoshis can do is swim as fast and as far away as they can.
25. Foung in "Ghost Castle", a humongous swarm of these tiny little buggers are better off left avoided. If you attack, you will anger them and they will start swooping down from the sky, but if you duck and crawl, they won't be able to reach you. What are they called?

Answer: Boo Buddies

Although Boo Buddies will attack you anyway, their attacks will be more frequent if you pluck off a few of their number. They can only be defeated by Yoshi eggs. I sure hope you enjoyed my quiz (please rate it too)!
