Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Florida, it is illegal to do which of the following...

Answer: Fart in a public place after 6 PM on Thursdays

As far as I know, no one has been arrested for this and it has just never been taken off the books. Did you know that if you keep a fart in for 6 years and then let it out after the 6 years it is like an atomic bomb? Pretty cool huh? Perhaps the politicians in Florida should look into this. In any case, save those "Franks and Beans" meals for Friday at lunch!
2. Which of these in Utah is NOT a law?

Answer: It is against the law to drink milk

Not only are the three laws listed STUPID, but it is against the law NOT to drink milk in Utah. (What about us poor lactose intolerant folk?). In all seriousness, I do not know what precipitated this law, however for people that cannot handle lactose or are vegans, I would suggest that you do not take up permanent residency here.
3. In Baltimore, Maryland, it is illegal to take what to the movies?

Answer: A lion

I cannot imagine what must have precipitated this law! Did someone expect that their pet lion would sit quietly through "Titanic"? Perhaps it was "The Lion King" that did it. Maybe someone brought their pet "Leo" and it was tired of the way lions were stereotyped and finally decided to let loose. After that, perhaps the lawmakers came down hard in Maryland.
4. Which of these are illegal in Alabama?

Answer: Wearing a fake moustache that causes laughter in church

They must take their religious ceremonies very seriously in Alabama. I wonder if you wore a fake moustache to church and it did not cause laughter, if that would be considered ok? In any case, all of you Groucho Marx impersonators ... beware!
5. Which of these are actual laws in the cities of California?

Answer: All of these

They are strict out west! Perhaps they have attempted to "give back" to their citizens by guaranteeing sunshine to the masses. These are other unbelievable laws on the books.
6. Citizens are not allowed to take a shower on Wednesday in what state?

Answer: Wyoming

This must have started with a water conservation situation. However, why "Wednesday" was isolated is beyond me. Soap sales must take a dreadful hit on hump day!
7. In New Jersey, it is against the law to frown at a police officer.

Answer: True

What if you are being pelted with nightsticks? I guess that the police do not like it if you do not respect their authority and to frown at them must fall into that category.
8. Staying with New Jersey, it is illegal to capture a homing pigeon.

Answer: False

However, it IS illegal to delay or detain a homing pigeon. At one time, this was a method of communication and pigeons were a way of getting information to others (we did not always have e-mail). I do not know about you, but I have not seen many homing pigeons with vital information outside my window recently.
9. If you commit adultery in West Virginia, what is the penalty?

Answer: $20 fine

This is only considered a misdemeanor and not very serious. It may be a real hit in the pocketbook for some West Virginians though. After all, you ARE allowed to have sex with an animal in this state as long as it does not exceed 40 pounds. In addition, "road kill" is allowed to be taken home for supper.

This law was passed by the Department of Transportation to lower the cost of road maintenance.
10. It is illegal to do what to a fish in Ohio?

Answer: Get it drunk

They must have been having too many trout show up for AA meetings. Hee hee!
Did you notice that the fisherman may be as plastered as they want to be without repercussion as long as the fish stays sober?
11. In which state is it illegal to sleep naked on Wednesdays?

Answer: Minnesota

This law is still on the books. I wonder if "Jesse the Body Ventura" ever did nightly checks to make sure this is being enforced?
12. In Texas, it is illegal to urinate on the Alamo?

Answer: True

Believe it or not, this law was enacted because Ozzy Osbourne urinated on the Alamo. I wonder if George W. Bush has grouped Ozzy into the "Axis of Evil".
13. In Georgia, it is illegal to say which of the following?

Answer: "Oh Boy"

Rich folk in Georgia, after the Civil War, would want their horses cleaned at times and would yell at former slaves, "Oh boy" to get their attention. Since slavery had been abolished, this was soon against the law to say. I would suggest if you live or are visiting Georgia that you do not get too excited and slip! They are tough out there!
14. Margarine was illegal in Wisconsin at one time. Now it is legal, however, which of the following is true?

Answer: It may not be substituted for butter in a restaurant, unless specifically requested

The actual text of this law is as follows...
"The serving of colored oleomargarine or margarine at a public eating place as a substitute for table butter is prohibited unless it is ordered by the customer."
"I can't believe it's not butter" is not something you probably hear too often in Wisconsin.
15. In Iowa, kisses cannot last more than 2 minutes.

Answer: False

They cannot last for more than 5 minutes! Who times these events?
