So I'm mostly creating this to see what teams everyone cheers for, whether it be Major League, Minor, Frontier, College, High School, you kid's team, or anything else you can think of. Also creating this to discuss the MLB season so far and predictions for the end of the season.
So I'm a Reds fan. They're my favorite team with my favorite players. I do have mixed loyalties though, which make things a bit complicated. I'm from Ohio and we have two MLB teams, a AAA team, and quite a few other minor league teams thrown in.
Being from Central Ohio I grew up a Columbus Clippers fan. When I was a kid they were affiliated with the NY Yankees, but I don't like the Yankees because my family hails from Boston. Because we're Bostonians I also can't root for the Cleveland Indians, which is the Clippers's current MLB affiliated team...Being a Clippers fan though, I can't cheer for the Louisville Bats, the Red's AAA affiliate, so I'm really all messed up... :) I do cheer for 1 Yankee, 1 Indian, and 1 Bat, however, to screw things up even more....oh, and 1 Chicago Cub.
Overall, this season, feeling very good about the Reds, and feeling very sorry for the Houston Astros...who I'm pretty sure are now guaranteed a losing season :(

I'm a Nationals fan and I do believe they're the only team in the majors with a better record than the Reds. They've gone from laughing stock to a great team in a very short time and I wouldn't be too surprised to see them win the whole bag of cheese. Reply #1. Aug 22 12, 5:49 AM |

As far as pro goes, I am a Royals fan. But I also follow the Braves and Cubs. Its easy to follow teams that have their own tv networks that show most of their games. Granted, TBS doesn't show the Braves games much anymore so I don't follow them as much, and the Cubs are terrible. Then again, so are the Royals, but they are my team. For college, I'm Wichita State University all the way! Even though they are long overdue for a new coach and some postseason success, I'm loyal to a fault to all my teams! Reply #2. I love baseball. As for MLB I have one BIG problem. I'm a fan of both the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago Cubs. It use to not be a problem until they started playing each other during the regular season. I really never thought they would meet in the Fall Classic. The only sport that I have two teams that I love and adore on equal terms. My favorite minor league team is the Jacksonville Suns. A double-A team in Jacksonville, FL. I don't watch MLB---too long and slow for my level of patience. However, I do love watching My 10 year old grandson's baseball games, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the LL World Series. Kids play baseball for the sheer love of the game, and it's shorter and more exciting than professional baseball (at least for me.) Reply #4. Aug 22 12, 11:49 AM |

My biggest problem with the Little League World Series is it always seems to be dominated by home runs and strikeouts. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind seeing a good slugfest or a game with 20 strikeouts once in a while. I think they really need to move the mound back to at least 50 feet, and move the fences back another 20 or 30 feet. May not make a huge difference, but I know this year they are on pace to set a record for most home runs in a series. Also, it always seems to be the same regions and countries that are playing for the title. On the U.S. side, it always seems to be the West or Southeast region. I'd like to see the Midwest have some success, being from Kansas. And for the International side, if its not Japan, its usually Chinese Taipei. Sometimes Mexico or Curacao will sneak in. Someone needs to fire Dan O'dowd. He's the main problem with the Rockies. Even with our current terrible season we still pack 30,000+ into Coors Field on any given day. I know we may not do anything spectacular but I love the Rockies! Reply #11. Aug 25 12, 2:43 PM |

I just think they need to be playing regular baseball at that age. By regular I mean balks, lead offs, steals, everything. Move the mound back to 50 feet which is where it is for most 11-12 leagues I see. Nobody could touch Japan this year. Japan is quickly becoming the Chinese Taipei of a few years ago. I remember one year, back in 1995, when Chinese Taipei took on a team from Spring, Texas. I still remember some of the Texas players. Mike Cepeda and Kyle Foster. Taipei beat them 17-3 in the championship. I think that was the year before they were banned from little league for a few years. In any case, it was an enjoyable tournament, always fun watching Japan play. And yes, Warner Robin and the teams from U.S. Southeast are always in the running. Reply #15. Aug 29 12, 6:29 PM |

I also root for anyone who's playing St. Louis (as long as it's not NYY). Since you're a Cubs fan, know anything about the situation with Campana's injury (he's on the DL right)?
