So I'm mostly creating this to see what teams everyone cheers for, whether it be Major League, Minor, Frontier, College, High School, you kid's team, or anything else you can think of. Also creating this to discuss the MLB season so far and predictions for the end of the season.

So I'm a Reds fan. They're my favorite team with my favorite players. I do have mixed loyalties though, which make things a bit complicated. I'm from Ohio and we have two MLB teams, a AAA team, and quite a few other minor league teams thrown in.

Being from Central Ohio I grew up a Columbus Clippers fan. When I was a kid they were affiliated with the NY Yankees, but I don't like the Yankees because my family hails from Boston. Because we're Bostonians I also can't root for the Cleveland Indians, which is the Clippers's current MLB affiliated team...Being a Clippers fan though, I can't cheer for the Louisville Bats, the Red's AAA affiliate, so I'm really all messed up... :) I do cheer for 1 Yankee, 1 Indian, and 1 Bat, however, to screw things up even more....oh, and 1 Chicago Cub.

Overall, this season, feeling very good about the Reds, and feeling very sorry for the Houston Astros...who I'm pretty sure are now guaranteed a losing season :(

So how about you all?

It seems to me, if the *Left Field* umpire made the call, while in Left Field, it has nothing to do with the *Infield* fly rule. Dang! The ball dropped directly in front of him :-O

Horrible call in a game that would never have been played last year. Atlanta should have moved on, in the same way Baltimore should move on (I write this before the outcome of this evening's game). This one-game playoff idea stinks!

P.S. I'm a Yankees fan, and have no stake in either of today's games.

The rule has nothing to do with the "infield" per se, but rather whether or not an infielder can make the play within an "ordinary effort." I've seen a breakdown of the play and you can understand why the umpire made the call (simply made on Kozma's positioning and where the ball is)... but it was the wrong call, no question. I hate it had to happen, but I do honestly believe the game would not have ended any differently, and have had several Braves fans tell me the same. We may never know, but a win is a win for St. Louis.

now we know where the NFL replacement refs went!

In the future, the extra two "line umpires" only calls should be on wheather a ball is fair or foul or if a HR is actually a HR (and fan interference).
The rule they blew last night was the "INFIELD fly rule"...why didn't one of the infield umps call it? Obvious answer , in their judgement (and mine) it did not meet the qualifications to be be ruled an infield fly rule candidate. In the future, only infield umpires should have the authority to call TIFR

AntonLaVey The infield fly rule has to be called immediately as well. This way, the runners know whether or not they might have to run if the ball drops or if they can stay right where they are.

veronikkamarrz I don't disagree with the call, but Anton is right...It must be called immediately, so everybody knows what they're doing!

Nice clip, boxjaw!

Greatguggly Nats just now lost to Cardinals 9-7. Blew 6-0 lead. Lead 7-5 2-2 count, 2 out, nobody on in the 9th.

I now have to go with Tigers and Cards.

No Yankees.

I hate west coast home games. Hate 'em.

Just curious...why do you hate left coast home games?

I just checked and they are all televised starting at 8:30pm e.s.t. (in case you thought they might be delayed until 10-11)

The Nationals looked an awfully lot like my Royals last night. Congrats, Cardinal fans.

I pretty much don't like west coast starting times in any sport. Living in Jacksonville FL does it. I know there's nothing that can be done about it. I guess some on west coast hate watching 1:00 EST start times as well.

triviaking162 12:54 AM here on the East Coast and Yankee Stadium has deflated as the Tigers took the lead in the 12th AND Derek Jeter was carried of the field. Hope it isn't that bad :(

Do the Yankees have another miraculous comeback?

(yawn) Let's find out!

Greatguggly Screw the Cardinals. I'm bitter and they're boring. Same old crap with baseball every year. Thank God for football.

triviaking162 And there it is! The Tigers have advanced to the World Series! Who will face them? Cards have a 2-1 lead!

Can we be looking at an '06 rematch? Time will tell!

Yes!!!! I loathe the Yankees (fam's originally from Boston, so, yeah) and I loathe the Cardinals (big Reds rivals, and their my team). I'd much rather have the Giants go on the World Series to face the Tigers.

I just heard an interesting piece of trivia on the radio. The last 4 Triple Crown winners all went to the World Series the year they achieved it.
