So I'm mostly creating this to see what teams everyone cheers for, whether it be Major League, Minor, Frontier, College, High School, you kid's team, or anything else you can think of. Also creating this to discuss the MLB season so far and predictions for the end of the season.

So I'm a Reds fan. They're my favorite team with my favorite players. I do have mixed loyalties though, which make things a bit complicated. I'm from Ohio and we have two MLB teams, a AAA team, and quite a few other minor league teams thrown in.

Being from Central Ohio I grew up a Columbus Clippers fan. When I was a kid they were affiliated with the NY Yankees, but I don't like the Yankees because my family hails from Boston. Because we're Bostonians I also can't root for the Cleveland Indians, which is the Clippers's current MLB affiliated team...Being a Clippers fan though, I can't cheer for the Louisville Bats, the Red's AAA affiliate, so I'm really all messed up... :) I do cheer for 1 Yankee, 1 Indian, and 1 Bat, however, to screw things up even more....oh, and 1 Chicago Cub.

Overall, this season, feeling very good about the Reds, and feeling very sorry for the Houston Astros...who I'm pretty sure are now guaranteed a losing season :(

So how about you all?

boxjaw - that's a very interesting piece of trivia. Never really thought about it, but it makes sense.

Glad the Yankees are out.

Have to say I'm surprised that SF went up 2-0. I wonder if the Tigers will make a series out of it, or roll over completely. The stat was something like 78% of the time when a team goes up 2-0 in the Series, they go on to win it all.

I guess it didn't make a difference. Wow...surely didn't see a sweep happening. That was a really poor offensive performance by Detroit and a great pitching performance by SF.

I really feel sorry for Marlins fans...and Miami and Dade County residents who helped pay to build the stadium there. Loria duped everyone again...trading away players he called cornerstones earlier in the year.

The empty seats in Miami's stadium are very upset with this trade I hear.

How on earth does Miami agree to this deal? As a Jays fan, I'm ecstatic about who's coming, but what is wrong with the Marlins brass?

Their payroll was around 100 million last year. Once this trade goes through, their payroll will be 16 million. That's the reason they are making the trade. MLB and their revenue sharing...the Marlins rake in the money. And now that they didn't have to pay for most of the new stadium, it continues to be a way to simply make money for Loria.

Historic Marlins. Although the franchise is probably one of the best at buying talent before a run for the World Series.

Who is going to get voted in today?

I think it's about time for Jack Morris
Jeff Bagweell should get in too
Lee Smith is a toss up for me, 478 was monstrous back then
Mike Piazza should, but the cloud will stop him
Craig Biggio eventually will, but I can't see two Astro's going in the same year
Curt Schilling might make it 1st year, just to rub it in Clemens face, but even if not this year eventually
Begrudgingly I think Barry Bonds should be there, because even with injected assistance his numbers are so huge, makes it more sad that he is so connected to BALCO.
Roger Clemens, I think will have to wait 7 - 10 years if he ever gets in.
Tim Raines, no power, but if you add his hits and walks he was on base almost 4000 times and had one of the highest ever stolen base totals over 800.
Larry Walker might not have enough at bats to have accumulated the right numbers.
Fred McGriff is a toss up, but not making it this year.
Edgar Martinez I think is hampered by his only being a DH and his totals aren't the best, so he is borderline but not this year as well for me.

Absolutely no one got voted it. That is ridiculous. Before this I had a strong dislike for the BBWAA, now this only solidifies my dislike. I have no problem with them leaving out the known steroid users, but Morris, Bagwell, Biggio, and Lee Smith all deserve to be in there. Not voting for a guy because he's not a "first ballot" HOFer? Or "third ballot" HOFer? That's absolutely ridiculous and these guys actually vote that way. Some have even said if they don't "like" a guy, they won't vote for him no matter what either.

Going forward I couldn't care less about the Baseball HOF. It's a joke.

Kevin Blackistone on ESPN asked the question today.

Is the HoF a Museum or a Shrine?

I think it should be a museum.

I am also highly dissappointed in the voters.

Would someone with some clout please tell the sheeple voters that it's OK to vote for players that played during the steroid era, because I think some voters are afraid to do what they know is right and vote in some of these players.

I read an article that said that some of those that vote, haven't written about baseball in over 20 years. That's ridiculous. The arrogance of the voters is appalling.

I'm going to copy Bx's list and state my reasons why each one should or should not be in.

Jeff Bagwell - He should be in. In a decade where first basemen were plentiful, Bagwell stood out. His power numbers speak for themselves, but few people remember that this guy could run too. He also was a good fielder.

Lee Smith - Retired as the all time saves leader. He should be in.

Mike Piazza - The best offensive catcher of all time. Not enough to get in. He played a premium position and was terrible. He was a glorified DH. Pass.

Curt Shilling - Not a chance. People make too much of his postseason career. Whoopie. Has just over 200 wins. He only had a 7 or 8 great seasons. The rest of the time he was mediocre. Pass.

Barry Bonds - Before steroids, he was one of the two top players in the game. The 90s belonged to him and Griffey. I still don't know if I would allow him in or not. Because of that doubt, I'd pass.

Roger Clemens - See Bonds.

Tim Raines - His first seven years, he was second to nobody all time at the lead off spot. After that, he was still a force, but it was obvious that playing in Montreal with his style of play was wearing him out too early. He left and went to Chicago and had two good seasons. I'm torn on this one. I don't know, and unlike Bonds and Clemens, I won't hold that doubt against him. If I had to choose, I'd say yes.

Larry Walker - Playing in Denver, I wonder how much of his BA, HR, and Slugging totals were padded as a result. I read an article that said his home OPS was 200 points higher than on the road. That's too much to ignore. Sorry, Larry. I pass.

Fred McGriff - 300 more games than Bagwell. 100+hits more, 40+ HR more, RBI totals virtually identical. Bags deserves it more. If he isn't in, then Fred doesn't get in.

Edgar Martinez - In my opinion a DH should not be in. Period.

And that leaves the snub. The only one without question who should have been elected first ballot.

Craig Biggio - 3k hits. 400 SBs. 600 doubles. Played three positions in his career. All premium defense spots, and he was very good at all three.

I'm going to say something I don't think I've ever said, and not sure I will again - I agree with Anton.

I didn't see a mention of Morris, but I do believe he should be in. I have a feeling we wouldn't agree on that one.

The World Baseball Classic

How fast did the interest in this tournament fizzle?

I barely know it's going on, or if the US is in it, much less who are on the teams.

Are there any countries in the world where this tournament is big news right now?

An absolute HUGE Cincinnati Reds fan. It started when I was young (five or six) and living in Atlanta. My dad took me to a Braves game and the Reds were in town. The Reds won of course (the Braves were awful back in the early 70's and the Reds were not) and the deal was sealed.
I have remained faithful to the Reds through some lean years and disappointments, but I can also remember exactly where I was, what I was doing and who I was with when Tom Browning threw his perfect game. Also, smoking the A's in the 1990 Series is an awesome memory.
Go Reds!!!!
