Rex Smith. Released in 1983, the movie also starred Kevin Kline as the Pirate King, Angela Lansbury and George Rose. Based on Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta, the stage production also starred Smith, Ronstadt and Kline. Linda Ronstadt was nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in the movie.

Leif Garrett. Sheriff Buford Pusser (Joe Don Baker) takes on corruption in a small Tennessee town after he becomes sheriff in "Walking Tall", from 1973. Sheriff Pusser's children, Mike and Dwana, were played by Leif and real-life sister Dawn Lyn in the original as well as in sequels "Walking Tall Part II" (1975) and "Final Chapter: Walking Tall" (1977). Bo Svenson played Buford Pusser in the two sequels.
Rick Springfield. Springfield won the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. A number one hit in 1981, "Jessie's Girl" is from the album "Working Class Dog". The song has been featured in the movies "Keeping the Faith" and "13 Going on 30".
Leif Garrett. Leif's singing career began with remakes such as "Surfin' U.S.A." (a #3 hit for the Beach Boys in 1963) which peaked at #20 in 1977; "Runaround Sue" (a #1 hit for Dion in 1961) which peaked at #13 in 1978; "The Wanderer" (a #2 hit for Dion 1962) which peaked at #49 in 1978; and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" (a #2 hit for Paul Anka in 1959) which topped the charts at #58 in 1978.

Rex Smith. The song spent two weeks in the top ten, and ten weeks in the top 40. It is from the soundtrack of the TV movie "Sooner or Later", which starred Rex Smith. Yes I do have the 45 with the picture of Rex on the cover of the sleeve!
Leif Garrett. "The Outsiders", from 1983, was based on S.E. Hinton's novel about a group of kids from the wrong side of the tracks and their rivalry with an opposing gang made up of rich kids. Not an all-star cast at the time it was made, many of its young stars went on to become well known. The cast included C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez and Matt Dillon.
Rex Smith. Smith played Darryl Crawford, who was married to Frannie Hughes, on the CBS soap opera from 1991-1993. In 1992, Rex Smith was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award for Daytime Outstanding Male Newcomer.

To her surprise, he turns out to be her guitar instructor Michael. Jessie lies to the 17-year-old Michael about her age and the two begin seeing each other. I was 15 when this movie was first shown, and like most other teenage girls watching it, wished I could trade places with Jessie. The movie also starred Barbara Feldon, Judd Hirsch, Morey Amsterdam and Lynn Redgrave.
