Disneyland Trivia Questions

1. What is the name of the song that is heard throughout the Haunted Mansion?

From Quiz
Disneyland's "Haunted Mansion" For Foolish Mortals

Answer: Grim Grinning Ghosts

The song starting out with a sorrowful melody goes through several changes throughout the ride before finishing with a catchy beat. In 1995, "Imagineers" interrupted the tune with a spooky version of "The Bridal March" by Richard Wagner, in the attic section of the ride. The music, "Grim Grinning Ghosts", which is perfectly synched as the ride progresses, was composed by famous motion picture composer, Buddy Baker, with lyrics by X. Atencio.

2. Who did the voice for Madam Leota?

From Quiz Haunted Mansion History

Answer: Eleanor Audley

She also did the voice for Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) and Lay Tremaine (Cinderella). Leota Toombs did the face for Madam Leota. She also did the face and voice of Little Leota at the end of the ride).

3. Prior to being refurbished and remodeled to include characters and underwater animation with an all star voice-over cast, this Tomorrowland ride based somewhat on Disney's version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" went by this name.

From Quiz All Day Pass - Extinct Disneyland Attractions

Answer: Submarine Voyage

Inaugurated in June 1959, a year after its namesake completed its voyage under the North Pole, the Nautilus and seven additional semi-submersible watercraft were launched, taking Disneyland guests on a slightly claustrophobic tour of the deep. The ride, which was propelled on a track only slightly below water level, took Disneyland guests on a simulated tour of the deep sea. Highlights included strange deepwater fish, a simulated ice cap, mermaids, and the Lost City of Atlantis. The ride closed in 1998, after nearly 40 years of faithfully service. The lagoon that contained the ride sat vacant for six years while Disney Imagineers developed an amazing subaquatic ride based on the Disney/Pixar movie, "Finding Nemo". Plans to model the ride parallel to the Disney motion picture, "Atlantis: The Lost Civilization" were sunk when the 2001 feature bombed at the box office.

4. In what year did Disney California Adventure (known by Disney park fans as "DCA") open?

From Quiz Disney California Adventure

Answer: 2001

The park opened to the public officially February 8, 2001 as Disney's California Adventure. It was originally slated to be a west coast version of Epcot to be called Westcot, but the projected budget to build the park was more than then CEO Michael Eisner wanted to invest after the Euro Disney financial disaster. Any Westcot items are in big demand by Disney memorabilia collectors. An interesting note: DCA was rededicated in 2012 and it was decided to drop the apostrophe "s" off the name - "Disney's" became "Disney". Why they felt the need to do that is a mystery to me.

5. In 1987, Disneyland implemented a novel way for guests to spend their "money". What was this currency called?

From Quiz 1980s Disneyland

Answer: Disney Dollars

In May 1987, Cast Members received a $1.00 bill as a gift for the debut of Disney Dollars.

6. How many years did it take to build Disneyland?

From Quiz The Happiest Place On Earth

Answer: One year

The construction of Disneyland began in July of 1954 and it opened in July of 1955.

7. Where is Club 33?

From Quiz Disney Secrets and Knowledge

Answer: New Orleans Square

Club 33 is located in New Orleans Square. Club 33 is hard to get into and it is hard to be a member of it. Club 33 is the only place in Disneyland that serves alcoholic beverages.

8. What monster lives in The Matterhorn ride?

From Quiz Disneyland, Then and Now

Answer: Abominable Snowman

The Matterhorn is a real mountain in Switzerland. Walt Disney got the idea when he went on vacation there. Now you can see a replica of it in Fantasyland. Beware of the Abominable Snowman!

9. In the summer of 1972, how much money would a family of four (mom, dad, brother, age 16, and little sister, age 11) expect to pay for a Disneyland 15-ride coupon book, which also included admission to the theme park?

From Quiz A Nostalgic Look At The House of The Mouse

Answer: $22.30

Before 1982, guests to Disneyland could purchase an assortment of coupon discount books (often referred to by guests as ticket books), that featured an admission to Disneyland, and offered an assortment of ride coupons for guests to enjoy the "Magic Kingdom". The most popular coupon book contained an admission and 15 ride coupons. Prices for "The Deluxe 15 Coupon Book" or "15-Ride Coupon Book" were: $5.95 for adults, $5.45 for juniors, ages 12-16, $4.95 for children, ages 3-11. Each book contained an admission to the park, one "A" coupon, two "B" coupons, three "C" coupons, four "D" coupons, and five "E" coupons. Coupon books offered a discounted value over coupons that were sold individually from the ticket kiosk within the park. The individual cash value and purchase prices of coupons sold were: "A" coupons-10 cents, "B" coupons-25 cents, "C" coupons-40 cents, "D" coupons-70 cents, and "E" coupons --85 cents. The difference of purchasing a 15-ride discount coupon book or purchasing the same 15 coupons individually from the ticket kiosk: adults - $5.95 vs. $12.35, juniors - $5.45 vs. $11.75, children - $4.95 vs, $9.50. www.yesterland.com/tickets en.wikipedi.org/wiki/e_ticket
