    Trains and Boats and Planes. Billy J. Kramer took “Trains and Boats and Planes” up to number 15 on UK charts in 1965. Dionne had U.S. chart success at number 22 in 1966.

The Cowsills, a family group from Rhode Island, had four top 40 hits. One song, with three segments in the title was “The Rain, the Park, and ____________”.
    Other Things. This cheery pop group also had hits with “Indian Lake”, “Hair”, and “We Can Fly”. Legend has it that The Cowsills were the inspiration for The Partridge Family.

Incredible music legends such as Elvis Presley are so talented and popular that just about everything they record is memorable. The Presley hit “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You” is no exception. What was the flip side of this Elvis hit.

    Hugo Montenegro. “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” peaked in the U.S. at number 3 in 1968 and number 1 in the U.K. during the same year. Hugo Montenegro was a musical arranger who had a fair amount of success with film scores including “Lady in Cement”, “The Wrecking Crew”, and “The Ambushers”, among others.

Lesley Gore charted in 1965 with “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows”. She performed the song in a youth-oriented movie whilst riding in a busload of very happy people. In which movie did this cheerful song appear?
    Ski Party. “Ski Party” (1965) was one of a number of highly successful American-International films aimed at the youth market in the mid-sixties. The film is full or terrific music. If nothing else, see it for James Brown and the Famous Flames performing “I Got You” while wearing ski sweaters in a snow lodge.

Big Joe Turner recorded a catchy R&B tune in 1956 all about his terrific girl. One repeated phrase is “Is you is or is you ain’t”. With that in mind, complete the title of Big Joe’s song. The song in question is “Lipstick, Powder ______________”.
    and paint. Big Joe Turner carried the appropriate nickname “Boss of the Blues”. “Lipstick, Powder and Paint” was the flip side of a two-sided hit, the other side being “Rock A While”. Turner recorded and performed for most of 50 years. He died in 1985.

In 1974, a warm and sentimental song called “Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine” went to number one on the Country charts. The ballad tells of the simpler and more rewarding aspects of life. Who is the talented artist who composed and recorded this song?
    Tom T. Hall. Tom T. Hall wrote such country classics as “Ravishing Ruby”, “I Care”, “That Song is Driving Me Crazy”, and many others. Surprisingly, his only crossover hit was “I Love” which went to number 12 on U.S. pop charts while it was at number one on country charts.

Bob Dylan recorded a song on his “Blood On the Tracks” album that included three characters. The song is an extensive nearly nine-minute saga packed with expected Dylan imagery. The story seems to be set in the Old West. What is the title of this spellbinding and cryptic track?
    Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. “Blood On the Tracks” contained more well-known songs such as “Tangled Up in Blue” and “Simple Twist of Fate”. All instrumentation is terrific, but Paul Griffin on organ during “Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts” is hypnotic.

And now, a classic. This Rodgers and Hart composition was performed by Rita Hayworth and Frank Sinatra in 1957’s motion picture musical, Pal Joey. Complete the title: “____________, Bothered and Bewildered”.
