Fun Trivia : Quizzes : Misc. Health Issues : So you Wanna get a Tattoo?

Introduction:
"Years ago, you were considered to be a "goth," a "weirdo," or a "rebel" if you were to get a tattoo. These days, tattoos are a fashion statement. But there are certain tips that one should follow before one decides to ink. Take this quiz to find out :"

1. Ok, so you've got the idea in your head that it would be a very cool idea to get a tattoo. However, what are some of the key factors that you should consider before getting a tattoo?
Your career, and how conservative your profession is, and whether the tattoo could compromise your career if it can't be hidden
Thinking really hard about whether you'll still want the tattoo in 15 years time and how "cool" it will look then
    All of these
Whether or not you will be prepared to deal with the aftercare of the tattoo

2. If you are still not entirely sure about getting a tattoo after considering your career, the aftercare of the tattoo, and whether or not you'll still want it in a few years time, even though you think you'd like it now, what should you do?
Nothing, just give up on the idea completely
Get a temporary tattoo, such as henna or a stick on, see how it feels and looks, and then decide after that
Just go for it and get the real thing! After all, you only live once, right?
Lapse into deep depression due to your indecisiveness

3. Alright then, you've made it past the first step, and have considered all the factors regarding your tattoo. The next step is to consider what type of design you would like your tattoo to be. Which of the following should you NEVER get as your tattoo design?
A foreign language symbol (which you have checked, double checked and triple checked the meaning of!)
    Your favourite animal
An innocent and normal design, such as a flower, dragon, fairy, etc.
The name of your boyfriend/ girlfriend

4. So now you've decided on a design of the tattoo that you would like to get. Now you're wondering exactly where to put it. Which of these would be the most painful place to get a tattoo?
    The back of your calf
    Your inner ankle
    Your chest
    Your bicep/ upper arm

5. Ok, you've done all the research, and are ready to get your tattoo. However, despite the fact that you may feel that you want to celebrate the fact that you're getting a tattoo with a couple of your mates, you should NOT get a tattoo while drunk, or under the influence of drugs. Why?
You may not be entirely aware of what you're getting tattooed onto yourself
Alcohol thins the blood, and will lead to excessive bleeding during the tattooing process
    All of these reasons
Any ethical tattoo artist will refuse to give you a tattoo while you're drunk, and any that DO ink you while you're drunk may only be after your money, and may not be completing the tattooing process correctly

6. Congratulations! You've made it to the tattoo parlour! Even now, you should have a good look around the parlour, and check out the surroundings, and make sure that everything is clean and sterile. Which of the following would be a good reason to leave the tattoo parlour, and not come back?
    The tattoo artist reuses needles
There are separating curtains between each of the places where people are getting their tattoos
The tattoo parlour is filled with "dodgy" looking characters, displaying all kinds of piercings and tattoos
Each tattoo artist has a display of his/ her work, showing what types of tattoos they do

7. Right, you've settled down into one of the chairs in the tattoo parlour, and are waiting for the next available tattoo artist. What "requirements" should the tattoo artist meet?
They should have a portfolio of all their artwork on display, which they will readily show to you
They are prepared to discuss all the aftercare requirements of your new tattoo with you
They are prepared to spend time with you discussing exactly what kind of tattoo you want, and where you want it
They meet all of these "requirements"

8. Ouch! Right, the tattoo is done, you've paid the tattoo artist, and now you're discussing some of the aftercare advice of your tattoo. Some tattoo artists recommend that instead of wrapping the tattooed area in a bandage, you should use plastic wrap. Is this a better idea than using a bandage?
    Yes
    No

9. You've had your tattoo for the past 24 hours now, and have already taken the bandage off. Which of these steps is essential to the healing of your new tattoo?
Keeping it moisturised until it stops feeling tender when not moisturised
Completely stop your intake of alcohol
Making sure that the tattoo is always bandaged until it heals to prevent an infection, so keep it bandaged for +- 2 weeks
Eating no red meat until the tattoo is healed

10. Oh no! You've decided after a few years, that, quite frankly, you no longer like your tattoo. Your boss thinks you're a "weirdo," your friends have started muttering to each other that you're an ageing hippie, and any time that you try to give your kids an instruction, they laugh at you and don't take you seriously, and you feel that you're developing a bad inferiority complex and a nervous twitch! You decide there's nothing else that you can do, other than go through with the sore (and expensive) process of getting the tattoo removed. Which of the following is NOT a method of having the tattoo removed?
    Dermabrasion process
    Laser treatments
    Cheloidal process
    Camouflaging process
