Answer: Don Gay

The Mesquite, Texas-born cowboy won his eight titles in a span from 1974-1984. During his career, Gay won virtually every rodeo throughout the country to show his greatness. The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame inducted Don in 2007.
2. Baseball's National and American League combined in 1901 to create Major League Baseball. Which league later tried to become the third Major League and join forces?

Answer: Federal League

The Federal League gave it a shot for the 1914 and 1915 seasons. They signed many future Hall of Fame greats from both the American and National Leagues, but fan interest was not high, and the league ran out of money for lack of support. The Indianapolis Hoosiers won the Federal League pennant in 1914, then the St. Louis Terriers in 1915.
3. Who was the first U.S. women's gymnast to win a medal at the World Championships?

Answer: Cathy Rigby

Rigby won a Silver Medal on the balance beam in the 1970 World Championships. Cathy was also a member of the 1968 and 1972 Olympic teams. The California native went into acting after retiring from the gym in 1972.

The race came down to the wire with three cars at the line. Petty, Johnny Beauchamp, and Joe Weatherly were all there. After three days, it was determined that Weatherly wasn't even on the same lap, and Petty was declared the winner by inches. It would be Petty's only Daytona 500 victory, but he won three Grand National Championships in 1954, 1958, and 1959.

The Grand National name was later changed via paid sponsorship to Winston Cup.
8. In the world of tennis, which female set a record for winning an amazing nine singles Wimbledon titles?

Answer: Martina Navratilova

Navratilova won her nine singles crowns in 1978, 1979, 1982-1987, and 1990. Martina also won 31 Grand Slam women's doubles titles, 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, and she won 18 Grand Slam singles titles. She reached the Wimbledon singles finals an amazing 12 times. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
9. Which National Football League team was the first to win three Super Bowls?

Answer: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers were not only the first to win three, but the first to win four as a result of their seasons in the 1970s. Their three wins came against the Vikings, then the Cowboys twice. Their fourth win in Super Bowl XIV was against the Rams.
10. In track and field history, who was the first American that ran a sanctioned and official sub-four minute mile?

Answer: Don Bowden

In 1957, Don Bowden who ran for the University of California, was the first American to break the four minute barrier. It all seemed overshadowed by Roger Bannister, who was the first to ever break the barrier in 1954 at the British AAA and Oxford University at Iffley Road Track in Oxford. Sir Roger ran the mile in 3:59.4. Bowden ran his mile at 3:58.7, becoming the first American to run it in under four minutes.
