Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Please note: The word clue when capitalized refers to one of "The 39 Clues." Otherwise it is just a minor clue to help find the real Clue. Now, on to the quiz! Our intrepid trio (Amy, Dan & Nellie) begin the fourth installment of their adventure in the middle of a Cairo market. What is it called?

Answer: Khan el-Khalili

The Khan el-Khalili in Cairo is Egypt's most famous bazaar. While driving from the airport into Cairo, Nellie Gomez sees the bazaar, and she just HAS to stop to shop. Amy and Dan get separated from her, and run afoul of Irina Spasky in the process.
2. Dan and Amy meet a young man named Theo Cotter in the bazaar, who helps them dodge a poor bargain, avoid Irina Spasky, and find a museum. While in the Sennari House museum, Amy spots a tile with this Cahill branch crest on it.

Answer: Lucian

Early indications are that Napoleon is linked to the current Clue that Amy and Dan are looking for. Behind that tile Dan finds a leather tube with a small bit of rolled parchment inside. It reads: "et pour la plus grand gloire des descendants de Luc et mon Empereur, l'indice est maintenant en route pour le Palais du La Paris. - B.D. 1821"
3. Nellie Gomez, Amy and Dan manage to find each other once again, and they pile into a cab to get away from the museum guards chasing Dan. Without being asked, the cab driver takes them to a ritzy hotel called the Hotel Excelsior. They end up being ushered into a huge suite under 'the Oh reservation.' Amazingly, the suite also hides an entrance to a stronghold of this Cahill branch.

Answer: Ekaterina

Alistair Oh is a member of the Ekaterina branch of the Cahills. This branch is know for its inventiveness, and as Amy and Dan discover, they are responsible for both good and bad inventions. Again, Amy and Dan are dismayed to be associated with such a ruthless family, whatever the branch.
4. Dan and Amy are confronted by Alistair's uncle, Bae Oh, inside the stronghold. In an 'exchange' of information, Bae explains the history of his branch's search for the Sakhets - three gold statuettes of the Egyptian goddess with the lion's head. Each of the Sakhets has different gems for eyes. Which of these is not one of them?

Answer: Diamond

Bae Oh explains the history behind the finding of each Sakhet that his ancestor, Katherine, had hidden. He also describes their frustration at finding that one of the Sakhets - the one with the emerald eyes - was solid, without a clue hidden within.
5. Bae Oh traps Dan and Amy in the stronghold in an enclosed display case made of unbreakable clear plastic. Nellie manages to find them and effects a rescue. What does she use to get them out?

Answer: Saladin

Saladin had taken to eating hummus after their arrival in Egypt, and Nellie threw some hummus up by the beam activator that was keeping Dan and Amy locked up. While Saladin enjoyed his snack, the beam was disrupted long enough to allow Dan and Amy to escape their imprisonment.
6. Nellie, Dan, Amy and Saladin escape Bae Oh's hotel and find fortune when a lady named Hilary Vale drives up claiming to have a message from Grace Cahill. With Bae's men hot on their heels, the group chooses to go along with Vale. In addition to a letter from Grace, Hilary Vale also gives them the true Sakhet that Bae Oh could not find.

Answer: True

All the way back in 1949, when Grace Cahill first visited Cairo, she had a fake copy made of the Sakhet with the emerald eyes. The true Sakhet was kept in a safe deposit box until this time.
7. The clue given by Hilary Vale, in combination with what Dan and Amy learned at the hotel stronghold, gave them the lead that they needed. Whose tomb do they visit searching for their next hint?

Answer: Nefertari

On their first visit to the tomb, they don't find what they're looking for, so they sneak back in later. They end up finding a number of symbols, and narrowly avoid encountering Irina Spasky in the dark.
8. Alistair Oh turns up alive, and helps the Cahills once again.

Answer: True

Alistair is trying to justify his actions to himself - abandoning the Cahill kids, and letting them think that he was dead - as just another necessity of the Clue hunt, but he is feeling bad about his actions.
9. Dan and Amy follow a clue from Grace that leads them to a shop called Treasures of Egypt. There, the shop owner, Sami Kamel, pulls out an old wooden Senet game board. The elaborate box can only be opened with an alphabetic lock - a seven-letter combination that the man said Amy and Dan would know. They only have one chance to get it right... what is the word?

Answer: Saladin

Within the box they find the answer to the current Clue: Myrrh. More important to Amy and Dan, however, is finding proof that their grandmother Grace IS still with them, in a way. They had felt that Grace had abandoned them to this harsh Cahill world without any preparation.
10. Dan, Amy, Nellie and Saladin are all back at the suite at the Excelsior Hotel with the latest Clue discovered when they hear a muffled thump from the adjoining stronghold. When they go to investigate, they discover the room in a shambles, and the Sakhets taken. They also find a black cloth with a repeating design woven into it -- a repeating letter M. What secretive group does it come from?

Answer: Madrigals

Not a lot is know about the Madrigals, according to all of the different Cahill relatives that Dan and Amy have spoken with. They are all scared of the Madrigals, though, as they seem to be fighting any gathering of Clues by any one Cahill branch.
