1. When the climate becomes inexplicably hot, Tintin decides to go to the Observatory to check things out. What was the director doing when Tintin meets him?

Answer: Watching his colleague do complex calculations

The director and his assistant were trying to calculate the time when the meteorite will collide with the earth. Disturbed by the interruption, the director asks Tintin to go and look at the telescope. And yes, the predictions made by the assistant don't come true.
2. When looking through the telescope, Tintin sees a mammoth creature. Which one?

Answer: Spider

A spider was clinging to the lens of the telescope - hence the gigantic view of a spider. The spider does make his presence felt during Tintin's dreams and at the meteorite crash site.
3. The impact of the terrible heat was felt across the town. Which of the following things didn't happen?

Answer: Hordes of cats running in panic

These signs were enough for the mentally challenged friend of the Director to prophesize the end of the world. Of course, he gets into an argument with Tintin and labels him as 'the son of Satan'.
4. The spectroscope picks up a trace of an element, hereto undiscovered. What name does the Director give it?

Answer: Bohlwinkel
