Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A yellow light in the Jeggare River precedes the sinking of a ship from Cheliax known by what name?

Answer: Direption

As the 'Seven Days to the Grave' chapter commences, a ship - originally thought to be a ghost ship - sinks in the Jeggare River. What the heroes don't know is that the ship is a catalyst for the events of the next chapter (and further on); it contains a number of Death's Head Coffers containing contaminated silver coins which lead to an epidemic.

Investigating the wreck is always an option a bit later into the chapter, but it doesn't take long before infection takes hold in North Point and an outbreak is sparked.
2. Brienna Soldado turns out to be patient number one for the outbreak to hit Korvosa. What is the name of the disease she contracts?

Answer: Bloodveil

The heroes of the campaign are called by a man met in the first chapter of the campaign - Grau - to help Brienna Soldano, a young girl whose health seems to be on the decline. They can heal her right away with the proper tools or magic, but no matter how they deal with the situation it's already too late for the city; Bloodveil takes hold and citizens start feeling symptoms of the plague. All player characters have a chance of contracting the plague during this chapter and it will debilitate them if not cared for.

By the end of the chapter, heroes have a one in two chance of being infected.
3. During this chapter of the campaign, what Harrow suit bears most significance?

Answer: Constitution

It's no surprise that the Harrow Deck readings held in this chapter benefit from the Constitution suit since it's the modifier most applicable to players' fortuitousness. Harrow Points attained in this chapter lead to Constitution rerolls, Hit Point regeneration, and Damage Reduction if used in and out of battle, not to mention that players drawing certain cards in the Constitution suit may get special bonuses at certain points in the chapter. All of these bonuses should go a long way in getting down and dirty with Blood Veil and saving the citizens of Korvosa from the plague.
4. Queen Ileosa creates an elite military force for her own protection and puts Sabina Merrin in charge. What is the name of this faction?

Answer: The Grey Maidens

The Grey Maidens are just one group emerging during 'Seven Days to the Grave' and perhaps the longest-lasting considering the events of the campaign. Appointed directly by Queen Ileosa, their influence on the city as it descends into a full-blown plague is clear.

At the same time, the plaguebringers of the Queen's Physicians arrive, having headed in from the queen's native Cheliax to work their magic. Meanwhile, it seems that several other parties are working to profit from the arrival of Bloodveil or, at least, make sure it flourishes.
5. During the early days of the plague, several odd events occur. Which isn't linked to information about the plague itself or the idea of profiting from it?

Answer: The bodies in Racker's Alley

Heroes investigating Racker's Alley and the adjacent toy store don't really unearth anything to do with the Bloodveil outbreak at all. Instead they'll come across some vampires looking to continue feeding. Lavender's Luxuriant Liniment, purchased from a perfumery in the city, is believed to be a cure for Bloodveil but it's discovered to be a fraud when looked into. If the heroes dive into the sewers to locate the wererats causing trouble from below, one will give information about the Direption and its role in the outbreak. Ultimately, diving into the river to investigate the shipwreck will result in finding the coffers containing the plague and, maybe, some more info about who was responsible.
6. For a mission from Citadel Volshyenek, the heroes are asked to locate a bard named Ruan. Where was he last seen?

Answer: Carowyn Manor

Deyanira Mirukova begs the Citadel to retrieve Ruan since he went missing. Really, Deyanira knows he's in Carowyn Manor, but she can't retrieve him. When the Manor is broken into, the heroes will discover that the place has been devastated by the release of Vorel's phage, a spore that killed everyone inside during a masquerade ball save for the perpetrators, both of whom are still inside raising the dead as a result of a local necromancer's wishes. Ruan won't be found there, but any interrogation or search will eventually lead the heroes to another location of particular interest in Korvosa.
7. In an old Arkona-owned warehouse on the West Docks, Dr. Davaulus can be found. What's the name of the facility he's running there?

Answer: The Hospice of the Blessed Maiden

The Hospice of the Blessed Maiden is a frightening place because there, with Red Mantis operatives looking after the place, Dr. Davalus, the Queen's personal physician, seeks to reset a balance in the city and cull it of its weak on the Queen's request. If Davalus isn't defeated or captured there and then, he'll turn himself invisible and retreat deeper into the building. What no one knows is that a lift exists within the building, leading into an underground structure unseen from the Korvosan streets.

It's not safe down there.
8. Beneath Korvosa is a temple dedicated to what goddess of disease and the undead?

Answer: Urgathoa

The Temple of Urgathoa beneath the Hospice of the Blessed Maiden proves to be a deceptively dangerous place. Descending into this dark, cavernous temple, the heroes will come across many deadly traps, Priests of Urgathoa, the evil necromancer Rolth, and a Nosferatu from Ustalav named Ramoska Arkminos who, in his lab, is experimenting on Ruan the bard. What rests in the deepest reaches of the temple ends up being the most deadly of all, cracking open more mysteries about Korvosa and its Queen than before.
9. Who of these is the priestess found to be responsible for many of the events of the chapter?

Answer: Lady Andaisin

Lady Andaisin turns out to be quite the powerful influence in Korvosa. Leading the plague from beneath the city, she created Blood Veil herself in order to support her god - Urgathoa. When she's felled in battle in the deepest chamber of the temple beneath the warehouse, she'll actually transform into a Daughter of Urgathoa and continue fighting as an even stronger incarnation. With her death, propagation of the disease will likely end, thankfully.
10. Can a cure to the plague be found?

Answer: Yes

If, after all of the events of this chapter, the heroes still need to prove their heroism (or they just happen to be thoughtful people) they can end Blood Veil once and for all by digging a bit deeper. Using Craft (Alchemy) and studying the records of Davaulus, Rolth, and Lady Andaisin, one could craft a cure.

There's also the matter, of course, of the Queen's physicians being outright corrupt. One would assume that could have long-reaching implications.
