Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Blaine uses what type of engine?

Answer: Slo-Trans

Blaine's Slo-trans engines can, while running on batteries, reach speeds of over 900 mph. They are often described as emitting a faint humming noise.
2. What is Blaine's 'alter ego' known as?

Answer: Little Blaine

Little Blaine was first intended to be the announcer to the cabin, but now gives unhelpful advice to Roland and his Ka-tet. Big Blaine does not seem to notice Little Blaine.
3. Where does Blaine charge his batteries?

Answer: The Falls of the Hounds

The Falls of the Hounds lie along the Path of the Beam, and Blaine somehow uses the Beam's energy to charge his batteries. It is never explained how the Hounds store the energy.
4. What is Blaine's First Class car known as?

Answer: The Barony Coach

There are many advantages to traveling Barony, among them quick first aid (in Jake's case), and the fact that Blaine could turn the walls transparent.
5. Which member of Roland's Ka-tet defeats Blaine during the riddling contest?

Answer: Eddie

Eddie uses 'illogic' when he and his travelers are just a few minutes from being Blaine paste. He figured out Blaine's weakness during their first round of questioning when the riddle 'What has four wheels and flies?' was asked. It was during that riddle where Blaine's only pause occurred, albeit a slight one.
6. What was the name of the powder blue mono who Blaine allowed to commit suicide?

Answer: Patricia

Blaine really did cause her to commit suicide, because after she went into a depression and 'wouldn't stop crying', Blaine removed blocks in her processor and she derailed herself over the river.
7. Before Roland and his Ka-tet comes to Lud, what is the function of the only part of Blaine's dipolar computer system that still runs?

Answer: To run the 'god drums'

Blaine does this for the Greys, because whenever the 'god drums' finish their beating, the Pubes hang one of their kind. They think of the drums as a message from 'the demons underground'.
8. What is the name of the riddle book Jake has from New York?

Answer: Riddle-De-Dum

Although Jake gets the book along with Charlie the Choo-Choo, it doesn't come in as handy as was expected. Also, the answers were torn out from the back, for apparently no reason.
9. What did Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Jake, and Oy have to employ to answer Blaine's riddle to board?

Answer: The Sieve of Eratosthenes

Susannah (Detta at the time) figured this one out. If they had not gotten the riddle in time, they would have been engulfed in the nerve gas Blaine let onto the city.
10. What is Blaine's station called?

Answer: The Cradle

There is a Cradle in Topeka, Blaine's final stop, but it isn't as spectacular as the one in Lud; the latter is made of marble, and is sparkling clean is a city that is run down and destroyed.
