Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What type of bird is Zoltan - the strange companion of Brown, the farmer?

Answer: Raven

Zoltan liked to chant, "Beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot."
2. Where did Roland buy his mule?

Answer: Princetown

This was only mentioned in passing in "The Gunslinger", so no surprise if you missed it!
3. Kennerly, the hostler in Tull, is 'plagued by daughters'. What was the name of the eldest daughter?

Answer: Soobie

The only daughter mentioned by name.
4. How many men did Roland kill in the carnage of Tull?

Answer: 39

"He had shot and killed 39 men, 14 women and 5 children. He had shot and killed everyone in Tull."
5. What make of car killed Jake?

Answer: Cadillac

'..a big blue 1976 Cadillac with sixteen inch wheels.' The Cadillac kills Jake, which sends him to the Way-Station and his meeting with Roland.
6. What did Jake find under the mountains that helped them on their way?

Answer: A railroad hand-cart

The handcart speeds them through the mountains much faster than they could walk.
7. The man in black told Roland's fortune with a set of tarot cards. Which card did he say represented the gunslinger?

Answer: The Hanged Man

"You, gunslinger, are the Hanged Man, plodding ever onwards to your goal over the pits of Hades."
8. What part of Walter's skeleton does Roland take with him from the campsite?

Answer: His jawbone

He took the jawbone to replace the one he'd lost under the mountains - the jawbone of the Speaking Demon from the Way Station.
9. When Roland wakes up on the beach of the Western Sea and is attacked by the 'lobstrosities', which parts of his body does he lose?

Answer: Two fingers from his right hand, and a toe

Luckily the gunslinger was ambidextrous when using his guns, so losing his right digits was not as calamitous as it could have been!
10. The door marked 'The Prisoner' featured a gold door engraved with the smiling face of which creature?

Answer: Baboon

The significance of the grinning baboon is not really explained - I guess we have to put our own interpretation on it.
11. What was the name of the air stewardess who came close to unmasking Eddie as a drug smuggler?

Answer: Jane

Jane Dorning became aware of 'something not quite right' when she realised Eddie's eyes had changed from hazel to blue and back again.
12. What was Henry Dean's answer to every Trivial Pursuit question he was asked when playing the game with Balazar's henchmen?

Answer: Johnny Cash

Henry was being held captive by Balazar to ensure Eddie's co-operation - when Henry died it cut Eddie's ties to his old life and gave him the freedom to help Roland pursue the Dark Tower.
13. What did Eddie leave with Odetta when he went back for Roland on the beach, which would cause them all trouble later on?

Answer: A revolver

Odetta's dark half, Detta, almost killed Eddie and Roland due to Eddie's mistaken faith in her.
14. When Roland entered Jack Mort's body, he prevented him from killing someone - who was it?

Answer: Jake

Roland prevents Mort from pushing Jake in front of the car which was supposed to kill him. This creates a paradox which almost destroys both Roland and Jake.
15. How did Jack Mort die?

Answer: He was hit by a train

Roland used Mort as a way of making Detta/Odetta confront each other - thus creating a new identity combining the best of both their personalities - Susannah.
